Update

Got an email and phone call from the designer. She was very apologetic and explained that she acted in a way she should not have. We might be moving to California this summer so I agreed to a lunch.

I feel she was genuine and I accepted the apology. Its really nothing to hold a grudge over especially since I don't know Anita personally.

Still figuring out what to do about the earring. I paid taxes bringing it into Canada and I don't think its going to be easy to claim that money back. I think I will just give it to my mom, she doesn't have any sad feelings tied to it!

I'm glad she apologized because that was uncalled for and very unprofessional. It really does open your eyes a little bit but this incident will have a somewhat lasting effect... I quite like a few of the pieces from her and thought of saving up to purchase some in the future, now I'll be rethinking about this.

How old is this designer. She looks rather young. Her comments also lead me to believe she's young. Unfortunately it seems like she may be in over her head. Not due to her age but due to her lack of maturity. Some people can handle success early and some, well....

sit near the exit and be ready to make a run for it!

You were very gracious.

Glad to hear that and you deserve an apology from her :)
I just hope she is really sincere about this and not just because of money hmmm..
Regardless, I will not be buying anything from her.

OP, I'm so glad to hear that you received a (much deserved) apology from the designer. Regardless, though, I will not be giving Anita ANY business in the future. The world of jewelry is too big and too filled with companies that have amazing customer service to support those (like Anita) who are unkind and ungracious. As was stated previously in this thread, nothing that she makes is so unique and in fact many of her pieces are inspired by other well known houses.

I am glad she personally called to apologize. You are the bigger person and have been nothing but gracious about the whole thing most people would have fought venom with venom and I think you are commendable for keeping your cool. Also if you can't return it or don't want to lose out on crazy duty taxes I think it is a lovely idea to give it to your mother. Just don't tell her the back story since she would probably not want to wear it knowing the designer was so cruel to you. It shows you are also a gracious daughter. I showed my husband this thread and the comments and he was appalled and made me promise to never buy Anita ko jewelry which I wasn't planning to do after reading this anyways.

Its been a weird experience, never meant to offend anyone including Anita Ko.

At the end of the day, its just a piece of jewelry. No one got seriously hurt :) I just wanted to share this experience as objectively as possible!

Hope everyone has a great memorial day weekend and I appreciate everyone's comments and support.

By the way..,personally I wouldn't do lunch with Anita Ko. You never know how she will react on the day of luncheon. If she has one of her "crazy" mood swing in the morning she might take out her frustration on you during luncheon.

+1

I have come out to post because I am completely floored by her behavior. Of course she is going to apologize. Especially to a member of a popular jewelry forum. These popular forums make them tons of money as one item is shared and recommended over and over again. Think of the thousands or more who lurk. The world of jewelry IS huge and AnitaNo is bringing nothing completely unique that I have to have with that kind of attitude.

Well, if she doesn't want you to buy her jewelry, they should be able to process your return ASAP.

Can you dispute a credit card charge if they take too long? Track everything and get/save all documentation.

Talk to the manager or owner of the store where you bought the item too. If they carry other brands, they may want to put an end to your return process quickly for damage control. I would not wait on an apology from the designer - she is too far gone.

If it is her online store, it could be owned by someone else too.

Good idea.

The store claims no involvement with the comments Anita left online, which is true, but as her 'representative' I hope they are making a serious effort to speak with Anita and arrange my return.

I would continue on with this and make such a fuss because you will not want to wear her jewellery anymore because it will give you a bad feeling.
