Oh my goodness! I can't believe how many of you left such sweet messages for Abby and me :smile1: I obviously would have replied MUCH sooner, but we were finishing up the drive from Ohio back to NY today, and as much of a multitasker I claim to be, driving in the snow and playing on TPF don't exactly mix!

Thank you all for such nice comments! I am glad you enjoyed reading about my visit to Cuffs as much as I liked sharing with you :smile1:

Abby Normal is a great sidekick! For those of you who asked what breed she is, she's not a poodle or poodle mix, but actually a Puli (aka Hungarian sheep dog aka "mop dog"). She's fully grown, but her hair has not started to cord yet (she's a little over a year old, so its still getting rid of the last of that puppy fluff) but she is 25 pounds of bouncy, roly-poly fun...who loves to run in circles, snuggle on blankets, and does very well riding in the car! Will definitely post more pictures of her...as she really is the star of the show :smile1::smile1:

And please everyone be safe driving out there! The roads were quite dicey today still, and while yes, the trip to Chagrin Falls and Hermes was a bright spot in the drive, it was still a long trip! Have a Happy New Year everyone, and thank you again for letting me share my story! More adventures to come in the new year!

Amazing story it's like a fairytale and you stumble upon something special, a little house of hidden treasures. Beautiful memories for a year's end.
Safe travels home.

I LOVED your story and your pictures were truly special to me.

I got my 2 graduate degrees in Cleveland and so I know Cuffs very well. I used to have wine and cheese parties at my apartment in Cleveland Heights while I was in grad school and I would go to Cuffs to buy wine for the parties - oftentimes I'd spend most of the afternoon at the store, looking through the clothes, talking with the wonderful staff, and learning about new, great wines they had just gotten in.

It was also at Cuffs that I got my very first H scarf (Axis Mundi) and got the idea for framing them (I now have 4 frames scarves in my apartment where I live now).

Seeing your pictures brought back many fond memories for me and really made me smile. I have not been back to NE ohio since I graduated but I really do need to get back at some point.

As a funny side story - I'm from Colorado originally, and, as it turns out, the manager of the Louis Vuitton boutique in Denver is from Chagrin Falls originally! I'd sometimes see her both in Cleveland, when I was in school, and in Denver, when I'd go home for break. She's a good friend now. Small world, it is.

I obviously couldn't walk away without a little something as a reminder of this lovely experience, of course! Is this rationalizing too much? Do I have a...problem? :) :)

Thank goodness my mom packed some goodies for me before I left the house, because I spent my dinner money for tonight at Hermes!

So here we sit, in the middle of Ohio, in a hotel room.

Abby Normal seems to be more interested in her rawhide bone though :)

Thanks for sharing! I travel for work and take "detours" whenever I can! I also justify purchases as a memory of the experience. You're not alone!!!

I love the astrologie design and enjoy your Karo!

Your doggie is absolutely adorable too!

Thank you so much for sharing your story with us. I especially loved the pictures and your trusty companion. :-) Congratulations on your beautiful mementos (I adore menthe too!). I hope you have a very happy (and H-filled) new year. ;-)

I just saw this thread.

Cuff's is my well kept secret, but glad you found it. I love the place.

I have purchased many H scarves, stoles, bracelets, GP (subsequently sold), necklaces and wallets from them.

They also have a nice selection of Barbour, bought two from them.

I live about 30 minutes from Cuff's but my BFF lives in Chagrin Falls so I get there frequently.

What a small world with some of the other members. I moved to Cleveland to go to graduate school at CWRU (twice, ugh; didn't like my first degree, so went again) and never left.

I was driving in that snow storm you were caught up in and glad you stopped for the night. We got 4-6 more inches since then.

Love your dog. Thanks for sharing your story. :smile1:

What a great story! Like other members, I also went to college in NE Ohio. My mother is originally from Ohio and much of my family resides in the Chagrin Falls area. It is truly one of the most enchanting little towns. I miss it so much! Talk about a winter wonderland. I haven't been to visit in a few years but I love Cuff's as well. Thank you for your very special post and your dog is just darling! Love your twilly as well. Happy New Year!

SO neat to hear of another person on tPF with Cleveland in them. I went to CWRU/CIM myself and lived in Little Italy for 2 years and Coventry for 3 (and worked at NOrdstrom at Beachwood Place Mall for 4 of those yrs). Chagrin Falls is such a treasure - a little hamlet out of another time and place. I miss it.
