Oh, that´s the usual blurb any aspiring brand will splash in their website when they have nothing truly meaningful to show that would actually set them apart from competing brands. It tells *me* absolutely nothing about the things that I actually want to know:

-actually made in Italy. Not outsorced - especially not outside of the EU (I´m European, so I kinda dislike nominally European brands trying to fool their customers by peddling wares made elsewhere);

-ecologically sustainable business practices. For instance, no cadmium for their dyes (this is just ONE example in this sense). And no nickel in their hardware.

-no sweatshop products smuggled in to slap on them a prominent, misleading "made in Italy" tag. And fair wages for their workers.

-a spelled-out return and repair policy, and a written warranty for at least a year since purchase.

-200 Euros a bag, and it takes "months to complete"? So, either 1) the craftsmen don´t earn any wages at all, and work out of the goodness of their philanthropic hearts, or 2) they earn a few pennies per bag only just like in a sweatshop (deduct from the retail price the company tax, premises tax and/or rent, electricity, water, waste disposal, social security costs, franchise rents, brokers, etc, and you end up with NOTHING left), or else 3) this is a barefaced lie. Just LOOK for yourself at the finishings, piping, lining, and compare it to true handcrafted stuff - Rioni is all about serial machinework.

Since any brand which does any of these things would be proud to announce it, but Rioni does not, it follows that they do none of these things: instead, all one reads are generic, empty feel-good nonsense words devoid of actual meaning like "passion", "devotion", "pride". Not to mention the copycatting issue, which is so blatant as to be beyond any acceptable level. I´m sorry - that´s just not good enough for my standards. Maybe they´d suffice for a 70 Euro bag (and even then, I´d prefer ecologically plant-treated nontoxic leather from a reliable, fair trade label - yes, you can get them at that price). For a 200+ bag, I have workshops here in Vienna where I can actually watch the workers craft my piece with their hands, and know the material they use is EU-approved, and their wages are just :smile1:

Point taken thanks.... :) I know it's fluffed up but they are made well at least to me compare to stuff I used to buy at Walmart, Target , JCPenny's. I wish I had the luxury of watching someone make my bag by hand but don't live in Europe . I did briefly years ago in the military and I still have those bags and shoes from over 20 yrs ago would love visitv again. Thanks for the info maybe I'll look for some bags from you region.

I'll never understand why some people always get up in arms about who copies who. It's everywhere. There are tons of threads on this forum about that exact subject.
People are always complaining about Michael Kors copying Louis Vuitton when in reality Michael Kors developed the *Totally* long before LV came out with it.
I own several Louis Vuitton bags and I'm embarrassed by some of the comments I read from other LV owners that make them sound so arrogant and pretentious.

I've also owned Rioni bags. They're well made, don't break the bank and are made in Italy. Why wouldn't someone be intrigued by them?
Enjoy your bags Rioni Lover (and enjoy that extra cash in your pocket!) Sounds like you have the right idea! :smile1:

I checked out their website as I never have even heard of them before and I understand designers often imitate one another but that site was just ridiculous in my opinion. An obvious copy of so many LV styles. If I didn't know they were a legit designer bag I would think it was one of those knock off LV bag sites based out of China.

It has nothing to do with being arrogant or snobby. I'm just not a fan of completely unoriginal and uninspiring design.

Funny considering LV doesn't even have a warranty, let alone a written one.

Also, Louis Vuitton uses sewing machines. Just like Rioni does... It's not like LV uses better sewing machines or something. The stitches are the same. The only thing that determines what stitches come loose and what ones don't is how they choose to end the stitch, and the other quality factor thing is just how the stitching looks aesthetically.

The only company that truly handcrafts their items anymore is Hermès.

Not liking a brand that patterns itself after LV does not mean a person is snobby or pretentious. That's grossly generalizes a group of people. That's always said when people dislike a cheaper brand on the LV sub-forum. I think these types of statement are always thrown by those who cherish the brand to make other people feel bad and shut them up when they have an opposite opinion. Whatever bag anybody chooses to like or dislike is their prerogative. The Roni bags are not for me, but if you like them than I'm happy for you.

@Rioni Lover....first of all, welcome to this forum. And yes you have every right to be here and state your opinion as much as everyone else. Some people take their handbags a bit too seriously (clearly that's an understatement :graucho:).

I see 3 types of responses in this thread:

1. Those who say great! Use your Rioni and enjoy it. Those are the peaceful live and let live sorts.

2. Those who will bash just about anyone who isn't fully on board with LV.

3. Those who really dislike brands that seem to copy too closely another brand. Those who buy these copycat brands will be instantly ridiculed.

Me, I don't care about any of that. Perhaps if I had a dog in the fight (owned a piece of the LV company) then I might care but otherwise I don't. I just enjoy the quality.
I started out with a French Company Speedy and thought it was just the best! Then I decided I wanted a regular classic Speedy and that is what clinched it for me! It's just a beautiful bag, like so many LV's.
I will never be a big spender on LV products because I don't NEED a lot of LV products. I know that need is not even in the mix for a lot of LV consumers but for me it is. I don't like to change out my bags that often.
All I need is a good everyday bag and a tote....and maybe a smaller dressy type bag. But other vendors (gasp!) could fulfill that need.

I'm sorry that some were less than nice to you here and I do hope you'll come back to this forum as there are plenty of really nice people here.

I want to welcome the newcomer to this forum also. She just introduced herself into a polarized thread. I have to disagree with your third most common type of responses to this thread. Just because a person dislike a brand that resembles LV does not mean they are ridiculing others who like it. I like LV a lot. I just choose to buy LV than something that looks like it. I have no problem if others decide to do the opposite. People with my view should not be ridiculed for our opinion. I like to give people the freedom to choose what they love and dislike. As we all say buy what you love, and I want to add to be happy for others who find what they love. :smile1:
