Oh, that´s the usual blurb any aspiring brand will splash in their website when they have nothing truly meaningful to show that would actually set them apart from competing brands. It tells *me* absolutely nothing about the things that I actually want to know:
-actually made in Italy. Not outsorced - especially not outside of the EU (I´m European, so I kinda dislike nominally European brands trying to fool their customers by peddling wares made elsewhere);
-ecologically sustainable business practices. For instance, no cadmium for their dyes (this is just ONE example in this sense). And no nickel in their hardware.
-no sweatshop products smuggled in to slap on them a prominent, misleading "made in Italy" tag. And fair wages for their workers.
-a spelled-out return and repair policy, and a written warranty for at least a year since purchase.
-200 Euros a bag, and it takes "months to complete"? So, either 1) the craftsmen don´t earn any wages at all, and work out of the goodness of their philanthropic hearts, or 2) they earn a few pennies per bag only just like in a sweatshop (deduct from the retail price the company tax, premises tax and/or rent, electricity, water, waste disposal, social security costs, franchise rents, brokers, etc, and you end up with NOTHING left), or else 3) this is a barefaced lie. Just LOOK for yourself at the finishings, piping, lining, and compare it to true handcrafted stuff - Rioni is all about serial machinework.
Since any brand which does any of these things would be proud to announce it, but Rioni does not, it follows that they do none of these things: instead, all one reads are generic, empty feel-good nonsense words devoid of actual meaning like "passion", "devotion", "pride". Not to mention the copycatting issue, which is so blatant as to be beyond any acceptable level. I´m sorry - that´s just not good enough for my standards. Maybe they´d suffice for a 70 Euro bag (and even then, I´d prefer ecologically plant-treated nontoxic leather from a reliable, fair trade label - yes, you can get them at that price). For a 200+ bag, I have workshops here in Vienna where I can actually watch the workers craft my piece with their hands, and know the material they use is EU-approved, and their wages are just![]()
Point taken thanks....
