I don't get.

I mean, last time I heard about her was when she decided to retire from acting, and now she is like having a whole other career - trying to be the worst white trash out there - white trash with money.

Poor girl. :(

The problem is that she is an adult (age-wise), and there is only so much even the most caring and loving and worried parent is allowed to do. The train has got to be fairly close to coming off the rails before anyone can take charge.

I don't understand why people keep asking about family. Family don't mean diddly. Millions of people who do odd things have family but it rarely makes any difference. In fact, family can drive you over the edge.

I'm pretty sure I already said this, but I'll say it again just in case. I really think the reason we haven't seen someone step in and attempt a hold or conservatorship is because she isn't profitable enough. In Britney's case there was so much money on the line (music, concerts, endorsements, clothing/perfume lines etc)--with Amanda there just isn't as much money to worry about. Yes she has money, but not the kind of money Britney was at risk to lose. Also, in Britney's case her dad was the manager and her family was kind of dependent on her--that may not be the case with Amanda. Until things get worse or there is significant money for someone else to lose, I doubt we will see much change. It's SO sad, but unfortunately the reality.

I was just reading an article where her friends claim she (Amanda) is "unreachable".

It's so sad. One of the most poignant things in the article "she's always alone now".

Also? What happened to her Cavaliers? She had 2. Sunny and Midge. I know her Pom, Angel, got out and was found dead not long ago. I've always wondered about her Cavaliers. I have 3 so the breed is near and dear to me.

Was she in any relationship before her "breakdown"?

I mean, she is always calling everyone ugly and she is clearly obsessed with losing weight - perhaps she was treated poorly in it or something.

I never heard her name before reading this thread, not being able to view American TV in Germany.

In the photos of her with her pup, she is the picture of wholesomeness there, a pretty girl. This young woman is coming apart at the seams. Whether it is a psychotic break, drug or alcohol use, a stalled career - we don't know, but she needs help quickly.

Amanda Bynes’ Bizarre Behavior Prompts Calls for Help

Actress Amanda Bynes‘ increasingly erratic behavior has concerned onlookers pleading for someone to help her.
A friend grew so concerned this week that he asked police to check on Bynes. In an interview with ABC News, Jonathan Jaxson, a Hollywood publicist and the actress’ friend, said he got worried after talking to Bynes.
“She started ranting and she was drunk out of her mind. She said, ‘I don’t want to live anymore,’” Jaxson said.
Jaxson, who was 1,500 miles away from the New York-based Bynes, tweeted his concern and asked New York City police to check on his friend. Bynes has displayed months of apparently bizarre behavior, including tweeting a topless photo of herself earlier this week.
Bynes, a former child star whose recent movie hits include “Hairspray” and “Easy A,” this week also tweeted an image of herself wearing just a bra and what appeared to be pantyhose.
“About to put on makeup!” she wrote in a tweet to her more than 896,000 followers. “I weigh 135, I’ve gained weight! I need to be 100 lbs!”
Last month the 27-year-old tweeted photos of her partially shaved head. She also took to Twitter to denounce media reports she claims are inaccurate.
Bynes’ behavior has prompted concerns about her physical and mental wellbeing. Following Jaxson’s tweet, actress Jenny McCarthy tweeted “police are at Amanda Bynes house. I hope they get her help. Enough of this circus.” That prompted Bynes to lash out at McCarthy, too.
“You’re ugly! Police weren’t at my house, old lady! Shut the f*** up!” Bynes tweeted Thursday in response to McCarthy, her former “What I Like About You” co-star.
Bynes has since apologized to McCarthy and deleted the angry tweets she wrote. In a November article in Us Weekly magazine, McCarthy described Bynes as “unreachable.”
“My heart feels for whatever she is going through and I love her dearly,” McCarthy told the magazine.
McCarthy is not the only one who’s worried about Bynes.
“Every photo she posts she’s alone!! I can’t take it. I want to cry,” “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” star Kyle Richards tweeted about Bynes.
As far back as November, another of Bynes’ former “What I Like About You” co-stars, Jennie Garth, described her as “unreachable.”
“My heart feels for whatever she is going through and I love her dearly,” Garth told Us Weekly magazine.
Howard Bragman, a public relations expert and ABC News consultant, addressed the concerns expressed for Bynes.
“We know how things like this can end up, and nobody wants to be the one who says I should have done something,” he said. “It’s clear something needs to be done, and she’s a part of this community. “

Amanda Bynes Suicide Attempt? Actress Threatened to Hurt Herself, Publicist Says
A publicist to the stars said Amanda Bynes told him she didn't want to live anymore.
Jonathan Jaxson told Radar Online he contacted police on Wednesday night because he was worried about the actress.
Bynes has made headlines in the past few months over her erratic behavior. She has been seen talking to herself, she shaved her head and has posted semi-nude pictures of herself online. Jaxson said he went into a panic on Wednesday night because he believed Bynes was threatening suicide.
"I don't want to live anymore," Jaxson claimed the star said.
Jaxson said he spoke with Bynes on the phone and that he could tell she was under the influence.
"Amanda had called me and we had a private conversation, but it was clear to me that she was high on drugs," he said. "Then, she said that she didn't want to live anymore. I took that as that she wanted to kill herself. I freaked out."
Jaxson contacted the New York Police Department and also took to Twitter to share his concern about Bynes' welfare.
"I just spoke to @AmandaBynes and she is soooo messed up on drugs and please @NY_POLICE find her and help her!" the publicist, tweeted. "I don't know her address!"
He followed up the S.O.S. with another tweet: "If trying to help someone you feel is in trouble is a crime, then there is a problem. A cry for help is just that! I did what I KNEW to do!"
Jaxson's pleas caught the attention of Jenny McCarthy, who also tried to help the 26-year old through social media.
"I hope they get her help. Enough of this circus. She needs help," McCarthy tweeted, "It came from a publicist but if no one can back it up it could be wrong. So start digging."
The police later told Jaxson that Bynes was fine, but he has his doubts. He said he had previously heard Bynes make similar comments but this time they felt different to him and he thought he had to take action.
"This time, I had a mental image of her in a bathtub, wanting to hurt herself," he said. "Then I saw a photo of her in her bathroom that she'd posted on Twitter. I freaked. I did not know what else to do."
