What does Hollywood do to these young girls that breaks them so badly? Amanda, Britney, many others who I’m sure we’ve never even heard of. It’s incredibly sad.
There are various definitions of child star syndrome. From what I can tell many kid performers grow up without learning how to make good decisions because everything is always done for them and they are kind of in a bubble. They don’t have a typical upbringing where they go to school and learn how to get along with lots of different people and they feel isolated and lonely. They also have lots of money at a young age, which can lead to drug/alcohol abuse because they try to keep up and fit in with the show biz adults around them. The mix of a growing mental illness and drug addiction is like throwing gasoline on to a fire.

Add to that some child stars have been sexually abused. The entertainment industry can be a cess pool.

Her psychiatric hold has been extended. Authorities believe she may have been living on the streets for several days.

My heart breaks for Amanda Bynes. For the most part since she left Hollywood and dealt with her illness, she’s avoided the spotlight. I wish news outlets wouldn’t report her medical issues especially since she isn’t plastering herself all over social media. It says a lot that she was able to realize she was having a breakdown and called 911. In the spectrum of mental illness, her’s seems to be very severe and difficult to treat. I really hope she gets the help she needs. Not sure how much her parents in the picture but I sure hope they don’t give up on her.

In light of the recent revelations regarding abuse on nickelodeon sets I can't help wondering to what extent her mental health issues were directly caused by those working conditions. I hope she gets her license and the stable life she deserves.

Hubby and I have been watching the Nickelodeon doc much surrounding Brian Peck and Dan Schneider; it's hard to think that, while she may have been prone to mental illness in general, the working conditions reflected didn't at least contribute....
