Am I wearing my Kelly 35 or is she wearing me?

Not to get too off topic, but for the past year plus, the talk has been about the trend going back to bigger bags. I know the minis are still as popular as ever, but as the population ages, there seems to be the need to carry more things. Tote bags have become more popular than ever, but honestly, it starts to look like you are toting around luggage and some of them look sloppy. A larger handbag is a better alternative IMO.
They’ve been saying big bags are coming back for a while now but people are still loving those itty bitty bags where you have to play Tetris to get everything you need in. They have their place in my life but not for everyday. I lean toward medium bags for my day to day.

I’m not sure big bags will ever be the rage they used to be because we need to carry less thanks to smart phones. I will say that in urban places where people commute a lot and don’t have cars I think larger bags will always be important.

I'm in the process of cleaning out my closet again and while I stopped collecting Hermes bags a long time ago they are among the few items I never chose to part with. This is due to a combination of reasons like value, emotional attachment since all were bought directly through H, etc. I bought all of my H bags back in the day when bigger bags were the rage so all are on the larger size (B35, K35, Evelyn GM and Lindy 30). I'm trying to figure out if I should downsize my Kelly 35, and likely lose money doing so, to a K32.
I dress down in general and I do think larger Ks seem to give a more casual look and mine is Gold Togo, which I think also reads as casual with the contrast stitching. My favorite bag these days has been my Loewe Puzzle in tan so very similar in color. There's a part of me that think I should keep the K35 because there's more of a size difference between the Puzzle and the K35. The larger K is almost like a tote and would serve a completely different purpose than my small Puzzle. The K32 would be closer in size to the puzzle bag and maybe somewhat redundant (in purpose not looks)?

Attached are some photos of the bag on me. I apologize for the outfits but honestly, I'm often running around dressed how I am in these photos. Thoughts? Am I making it work or should I bite the bullet, sell this one and get a K32?

Looks like it was made for you!

So glad you decided to keep.

My wife has gotten caught up in the mini bag trend but my opinion is my own. I think some of the mini bags look ridiculous. I saw a woman in the boutique that had one of the doll mini k bags. She had to carry a $10 eataly bag to carry her actual stuff. What’s the point?

The B35 and K32 were the original sizes for a reason. Beautiful and functional.

I think it looks great in pic 1 and 3, however in pic 2 I tend to agree it’s wearing you a bit - possibly because of where it finishes on you? Perhaps when you wear on your shoulder (rather than cross body) a shorter strap would be better proportionally? But it’s a classic and I think the trend is moving away from teeny tiny bags anyhow?

Your rightly observe that despite the similar colour, the K35 serves a different purpose to your Puzzle so I’d keep if I were you.

Every time I think about selling my K32, (and I’m 6ft) I will come back to this thread and get reminded that not everything needs to be a tiny mini bag (which I DO enjoy!! Lol) But I don’t need to swap out for a 28… ❤️ you look fabulous w the bag!!!

@blanchetcf This is my 2003 35 CDC Ebene Sellier Kelly taken in 2008. I'm only 5'3ish and I never once thought about it being too big. It was absolutely THE most gorgeous bag I'd ever owned at the time. Sadly, I did end of needing to sell it for physical/health reasons, but I'd give anything to get this bag back, even if it was only to look at it sparkling in the sunshine. Sigh. :girlsigh:
