I think what the others have touched upon is the difference between being materialistic/vain and enjoying beautiful objects. We are human, we are all attracted to nice things; this condition does not make us materialistic in the negative sense. However the need to flaunt the objects we have had the fortune to obtain so that others can experience a sense of envy is materialistic/vain in my opinion. It is the the need to make others green with envy and jealousy that makes the having a trophy wife, for example, a ethically inconsistent position.

The only person who can answer your question is yourself. Why do you buy the beautiful (and luxurious) objects for yourself and your wife?

Very well said~!

Yes I think you are. Not because you buy all those items, nothing wrong with but because you feel the need of underlining how expensive they are and flaunting them the way you do.

Did you have to include numbers?. The members of this forum are in the "know" of the prices of high luxury goods. You seem materialistic, and tacky. Are you one of those people that always gloat about how much their things cost?,and others always roll their eyes at?
