Am I the only one that has to touch bags in the stores?

I used to get worried about messing up the displays in the Coach store, until the SAs started insisting that I take the bags down, fondle them, put my stuff in them and try them on. They'll even help by pulling the stuffing out of anything they think I might like. I think they know that a customer is more likely to buy something if she's played with it first, rather than just seeing a display. It's a good philosophy, IMHO.

I am right there with you. It's a compulsion, that I still to a degree feel silly about having. But I have to feel it, look at it, try it out to know if it's for me.

don't feel bad. i sit on the floor, take the bag with me, take all the paper out of the bag, take all my stuff out of the bag i am carrying, put it into the new bag, sashay over to the mirror (even if it is in another department) and model it for a good long time. and i might not even buy it. that is buying. now, lately, i've done all my buying over the internet, which is sad and not as much fun, but you have to do all this stuff with a potential purse.

It's the only way to truly know if you will like the bag, to touch it and try it on! It's going to be in your hands, on your arm, over your shoulder, against your body, etc etc so you need to get a feel for the weight and just how it feeeels.:noworry: Haven't we all eyed a bag and then picked it up and went 'ew' because it felt too lightweight or cheap...or the opposite when you just know...ahhh, you're comin' home with me :graucho: .

I go the extra step and make my DH touch it too. I'm always holding out a bag, saying "feel it!" He gets this really exasperated (sigh plus eye roll) look, pokes it with his finger and walks away. Is it a girl thing?

I don't know if it's a girl thing, but my BF totally refuses to touch my bags when I ask him to. I'm always like "touch it! Feel it! Isn't it great?" and he just looks at me like i'm nuts, and tells me he'll never touch my bags. Then again, he thinks the whole bag obsession is less than sane.
