Maybe there is a thread like this somewhere, I'm sorry if this is a duplicate- but lately I find myself NOT carrying my AW Roccos or my Bal Work or Twiggy because I think they are too good for every day. I buy them, I love them, I won't carry them? Am I nuts? I'm just afraid they will get worn out looking and I won't be able to replace them. I have 4 Roccos and 3 Bals! What is wrong with me? I'm carrying a MBMJ bag I just bought to use "every day". It is a nice bag, about 400$, (but a bit too small for my liking), but I feel guilty that I have these fabulous uber-cashy bags in my closet..am I alone in this craziness?

I rotate all of my bags....it helps cut down on the wear and tear. You can choose 6 to wear for 2 months each for the year. Then use one/two for your weekend bags.
It works for me.

No you're not. I am so annoyed with myself; I have an entire closet of nice bags many of which I am 'afraid' to wear, sigh. I can't bring myself to sell or get rid of some. I hear ya!

That sounds so sensible. I just have to get some system, or something. Maybe I'll use this MJ bag for a while and take it to the consignment shop in the winter...two months per bag hmm, ....I get a bag out of its duster and start to load it and I think, nah, I have to blah blah blah, excuse, it'll get dirty or it'll get rub marks... . But when I'm not carrying my favorites, I am regretting that too. I didn't have this problem til this summer when a woman at a party dumped champaign on my luggage Rocco and then, bless her heart started RUBBING it with a wet rag. I was trying to be polite and get it away from her but she really felt bad, and insisted on rubbing it clean, All down hill from there... Ha!

Ha! So it's not just me. Thing is, I WANT to carry them, I just love them, I love how they look, smell, feel, how they make me feel, you know. So I feel guilty for not carrying them and guilty if i do, and i would never sell even one of them! But maybe if I try this rotation scheme... Do you rotate regularly chessmont?

I ALWAYS use my bags. Operative word: USE.
What's the sense of paying $$$$ if they're going to sit in your closet, wasting space and money?

Bags are just a means of transporting our daily essentials around. I'm a longstanding tPF'er and I love both high-end and no-name brands but in the grand scheme of things, they'll burn away when we die.

Life is too short - use and enjoy!

I used to feel like you do - you love your beautiful bags - you must wear them. Dont wait - most leather looks better with age and use - I know Bals do.

Life is too short - who knows if you will be around tomorrow - use, use, use your bags.

Dont be the old lady who never uses her fine china and linen and it just gets junked when she dies.

Well Alouette and Nancy in VA, I really never thought of it that way. I have no one to leave them to, and even if they get a little scruffy, they are still soooo beautiful. In other threads I see them used, stuffed to the seams, and carried in all weather. So I have no idea what I'm doing with them safely stashed in their bags on my shelves. In fact I have seen pictures of Jackie Kennedy carrying the same Bag in many locations and with many different outfits, so she carried it a lot. It's lovely to have a signature piece that you are known for. Maybe that should be my motivation... " What would Jackie do" ? Lol.

Yes! I was clearing junk out of my workhorse Neverfull just today and speculated that I could probably get about $40 for it on eBay, lol, it's so beat up. I have spilled drinks in it and everything. So what? Saw an elderly lady at the mall recently carrying an ancient Speedy, the vachetta was coffee-colored and it was completely shapeless--love it! I hope when I am 90 I can totter around a mall with a battered designer bag and look as elegant as she did.

Use them and show them off! :D I used to think ok I'll "save" them for later (god knows why and what), I always go look at them but every time I go out I always stick with the same bags (the one I don't mind wrecking so much)...I started to change to try to use every one of them in turns now cause they deserve a good use and yes life is just too short NOT to enjoy your beautiful bags

ita!

My dad used to always say,"I'm saving that for good." Now, I realize good never comes, but I still find myself saving things. I see some of my purses don't wear very well and are just more delicate. I don't wear them as much, but other than that, I'm begining to realize nothing is good if you don't enjoy it !

I rotate them by the way they fit to my daily outfits. Except for one Mulberry and one Burberry everydaybags, I use my better bags only when the outfit is calling to some of them .

Inside my bag there is a only a wallt, coinpurse, keys phone and small makeuppouch. Maybe an extra ecobag for shopping too. After use I allways put these daily essentials to my closet to their places to collect inside next days lucky winner. Trash will be immidiately recycled to its way from my bag after I got home from shopping. This advise was ment to be for organising daily rotation in using several bags:cool:

Its terrible, but its true, more bags you have and more you rotate, more better and fresh they stay..

You are sooo right!

There are bags that need more care and attention and some that are less useful than others but at the end of the day they are bags.

There is no such thing as perfection, tomorrow never comes and life only starts when you live it. Don't save for best, be at your best everyday, bring out your bags (and china) even if they are just for you and enjoy them while you have the chance.
