I have the same issue; I think the frivole does not cause the same discomfort because only part of the earring is pressing into the lobe, while the Alhambra is a big, flat clover-shaped disc pressing into basically all of of the lobe. Frivoles are so comfortable for me, while Alhambra are tolerable when adjusted well. I do have one lobe that is a little thicker than the other and very sensitive skin, and that is the ear that will start throbbing and bleed sometimes. If I adjust the tension loose enough that it never causes pain, then it tips forward on my ear. Another challenge with the Alhambra is that the surface area pressing on the ear spans both slightly thicker and slightly thinner pieces of flesh, while the frivole is only pressing on one point, so it is easier to adjust the tension perfectly.
I guess I am the polar opposite from majority of ladies here who never feel any discomfort on any of my Alhambra earclips even from Day 1, as compared to Frivole earclips.
I did request for longer posts for all of my earclips (except the Large Frivole) but i never asked for tension adjustment for any of them.
Initially I also felt my Frivole pressing both of my ears very hard as they caused some pain with deep pressed marks on my earlobes after a few hours of wear. If you look through my photo below, I suspect it’s because the allowance of the post on the Frivole are much shorter as compared to the Alhambra ones and unfortunately, it's mainly due to the design and my SA advised not to make any alteration towards the clips otherwise they would not “face up” properly when being worn. So, all the while I’ve been trying to play placing the Frivole tilted upwards (instead of 180 deg straight line) on my earhole with the help of lobe wonder where such placing could help to reduce the tension when i wear them. The Frivole still left some light pressed marks after i wear them but they never cause anymore discomfort. I can even wear them the whole day without any pain at all!
Now that I own the Large Frivole, I did not ask for any post alteration for this pair and whilst the small size ones are easier to wear, it's a bit of a challenge to find the perfect angle for my Large ones to tilt upwards LOL...
