Thanks for all the pics, updates etc. Very nice to wake up to.

I actually like his more casual outfit much better than the suit. Favourite photos of the day/night have to be any and all with Onata. Its not just that he's with a little kid, (who happens to be adorable) its that they seem to have genuine interaction with each other. The ones with Alison Mosshart and Julianne Moore are a close second.

That dark haired gal looks like a handler for the event to me as well.

I like this one better as well, but neither have enough neck/chest porn.

...
Alex is going to make an amazing (one of his favorite words) father someday. I wish he would find a nice normal girl to settle down with soon and make beautiful babies before he is 60!

I'm not really maternal at all. But watching him with Onata, first on set last year and now this weekend, I do admit to getting all mushy.

Ok, first, I love Onata's ruffle theme and her cute purse. But I equally dig that Alex is such the protective big brother/co-star and made it fun for her. Hope the rest of her career gives her encounters with good experiences like that! Glad Bill made it for bro time, no doubt more party updates tonight. It's interesting to watch these events in motion, it does really put an actor in a different keeping to be discussed in the same breath as other major actors, and TIFF is really working hard to challenge the other major film fests for the big contenders. good for Alex to be seen there and among his more talented peers.

Thanks for the pics and the stories, ladies - Santress, as usual, you're digging up some keepers!

I like that Onata's 'dressy' but age-appropriate. She's still dressed like the young girl that she is, not some mini-adult.

Alex's treatment of her is very much the big brother, but someone last year pointed out, he's also been through the child actor experience and has that to draw on as well to help make sure it's fun and that she's not too overwhelmed. He seems to be doing a very good job.

I think Sundance would be amazing to go to..as a film buff I'd love to go...but it seems to have changed as Squirrel said re the commericialisation etc...and the Paris Hilton's of the world invading, desperate for indie cred (did she get banned at one point?)

Onata is very fortunate to have a co-star such as Alex. He's very attentive and making it as easy as possible for her, as SS and Buckey have said. Onata's mother sounds like she's on the right track and Onata is in no danger of being a Honey Boo Boo or whatever that child's name is I keep seeing and then desperately trying to unsee.

I have to agree here. TIFF is one of the three (or four) festivals I'm following closely every year. It's one of the more interesting ones and they also try to always have interesting movies, quality movies (Springbreakers aside :p) and a few big actors like to go there regularly which speaks for the festival. It's just the whole atmosphere there and how they conduct the festival that keeps my interest and attention.

It's what Sundance used to be, before marketing and fame-ho's killed the indie spirit and the vibe.

*takes off cynical hat*

I always had mixed feelings about Sundance anyway. Because isn't the indie spirit gone anyway when the festival gets a widespread commercial exposure? If yes, then this happened for me a long while ago with Sundance. And I'm not a huge fan of Robert Redford so he couldn't pull me in either. With Sundance I always had the feeling not only the actors who are in the movies are showing up but also everyone else. I personally find it pointless showing up at a festival where I'm not part of a movie that is screened there. It kinda looks desperate. Like I couldn't make it with a movie here but I'm coming anyway. :amuse:

I've been to Sundance three times and always really enjoyed the films and totally was annoyed by the swag/kitsch. Twice I was at parties with Paris Hilton which says everything. I do think Redford could do a better job on the commercialism that invades it - but the film quality can be amazing which lures you in. They are carving out more of a bent of quirky indies and documentary types. Which is definitely a niche, and maybe a harder sell. But they do get a few gems and huge sells which keeps them burning. The timing sucks though - no one thinks award season at that time of year and it's very hard to think "contention" in January.

Sundance started in 1978 and they had some great movies that premiered there:

The 1978 festival featured films such as Deliverance, A Streetcar Named Desire, Midnight Cowboy, Mean Streets, and The Sweet Smell of Success. [2

TIFF started in 1976. but it was focused on Canadian only films originally. It wasn't until later that they expanded to international films.

I think Sundance was a trailblazer for what we would consider indie films in the US, back in the day. Now, with the internet/social media, other film festivals have moved to the forefront. IMO, Sundance has been resting on their laurels and have not evolved.

Seriously, Santress, you're killing me with all these wonderful pics.
Queen Haq's stuff is to die for. Totally panty melting videos. (Thanks, Free)

Given your avi, VF, am I bad for oversniffing the perfume sample in the People weekly magazine send? doesn't really hook me either, but isn't at all off-putting.

Since you're smelling for nuts more often than not, how does it compare?

It opens with aromas of mandarin, cardamom and rum. Pepper, Egyptian jasmine, patchouli and cognac from the perfume’s core, settled on woody nuances of oud, Atlas cedar and musk.

WTF is oud?
You must be drawn to the rum/cognac smell. Yea, I've seen your drunk pictures.

I've been looking at the questions people are posting, and I'd like to hear his answer to 90% of these. These are obviously fans who have also heard the same old, same old questions/answers. Of course, he has to answer honestly, and not standard canned answers. Wonder if any of these questions will actually be asked.

I think of oud as a musical instrument, but apparently it's also a perfume:

Yeah, it's also known as agarwood. Again, I say, WTF is agarwood?

Alexander Skarsgård can reportedly imagine marrying his girlfriend.

The actor has apparently been dating Alicia Vikander for the last few months. They are both from Sweden and have already formed a close bond.

"Alex says he's met his best friend and can really see himself marrying Alicia. They are definitely the real deal," a source told National Enquirer.

Alexander is best known for portraying vampire Eric Northman in TV series True Blood, while Alicia stars in the new movie Anna Karenina alongside Keira Knightley.

The hunky star was previously linked to Ellen Page, who he met which shooting The East last winter.

The pair's rumoured romance caused issues for Ellen, who began receiving death threats from crazed fans via Twitter.

Alexander has previously spoken about the lengths he'd go to for love.

"I've not broken the law - I hate to disappoint you," he told UK magazine Cosmopolitan. "But I am a romantic - I think it's in the little things.

Love that one.

From EW:

Toronto Film Festival: 'What Maisie Knew' premiere shows off Julianne Moore, Alexander Skarsgard, little Onata Aprile

by Solvej Schou

For the world premiere Friday at the Toronto International Film Festival of their drama What Maisie Knew, based on the Henry James novel of the same title, directors Scott McGehee and David Siegel played it very calm, even if they felt jitters inside.

The night before the premiere, at an after-party for On the Road, McGehee talked about being nervous because the venue, the Roy Thomson Hall, is so large (about 2,600 seats). He shouldn’t have worried. Quietly down-to-earth, McGehee and Siegel capture the sadly lovely mood of the film, about a pixie-sized wisp of a girl named Maisie, played by now 7-year-old Onata Aprile, who observes with her eyes and ears, more than using words, the terrible relationship between her petulant rocker mom, played by a brunette, tattooed up Julianne Moore, and distracted dad, played by floppy-haired Steve Coogan.

Maisie shows wonder, joy, and fear in her little pale face and big, round eyes, seeing her parents switch to younger, attractive counterparts who eventually care for her more than her mom and dad do. It’s a measured story from a child’s viewpoint. The audience cheered at the end, and fans seemed to gush over Aprile, who wore a little black dress with sparkly silver tights to the premiere.

“It was nothing but a gift to have Onata,” Siegel told EW.com. “We shot for seven weeks, and she was always amazing, ready to be there.”

While (mostly female) fans by the red carpet shrieked for costar Alexander Skarsgard, who plays Moore’s lover, then husband – one woman kept yelling “I LOVE YOU ALEX” — Moore was met with an equal amount of crowd admiration. Wearing a stunning tight black Alexander McQueen dress with a plunging neckline, she praised the fest and the film. Moore’s character is both loving and completely selfish, a combo of crazy mama bear, smudged eyeliner, and musician talent.

“Toronto’s always a great festival. I love it. I’ve been coming here for years. The first time I came here was for Vanya on 42nd Street, a loooong time ago [mid 1990s]. I work here a lot. It’s a very welcome city,” said Moore. ”With the movie, you know, Henry James was very modern. History repeats itself, and he knew how to write about relationships.”
