Free, thanks for the video. Vey cute. Alex looks so small sitting next to Joe even though they are the same height. Joe must outweigh him by at least 50-60 pounds of pure muscle.

Mmmmm...he makes my mouth water :graucho:

Yes, more Eric is always a good idea! :D

I would never deny someone their opinion on "True Blood". For personal reasons, I would give the writers grief about that Ifrit/PTSD-storyline and the way it ended, if I had the chance to. And I love to read the different views on the storylines, the characters, the quotes and the tiny details, but some people get carried away and don't even realise it. There's some "Twilight"-worthy obsession out there when it comes to "Team Bill" and "Team Eric". Luckily, "Team Alcide" seems to be content with him taking his shirt off... *ducks behind sofa and hides from Mik*

Heyyyyyyy :pout::giggles:

o/t but Prince Harry is going to be in so. much. trouble. Granny will not be amused. Skars' drunken nudity looks amateurish by comparison.

I just love that Prince H does his thing :happydance:

Somewhat O/T but for the Chicagoans, yay, Nelsan is coming and is going to be near where I live, directing a play! Laffie sightings!:woot: Ok, I'm calm now.

Oooooh, you lucky Squirrel...er...I mean Girl :D

i'll fight you for him. i'll up the stakes. i will take him in baggy as* jeans and craptastic shoes.

ETA: for MIK: I liked Alcide and what he did in this ep. i was surprised. but hey it was good

Me likey too :p

Just seen your ETA re Mik, haven't heard from her for a while so I sent her an email earlier, hopefully she's just having fun at her friend's cabin.

Now I really must :sleepy: so I'll leave you trying to convince Squirrel that there really is no hope for her. While you're about it, try and persuade the other zillion Skars' fans, then it'll just be you and me left ;)

I wish! I ended up in the hospital battling a nasty stomach virus :throwup:

I'm off to bed, too. Will be curious as to Mik's take on this last ep, re: Alcide.

I loved it! I was surprised, but expected it in a way :smile1:

Ah, it's the TV Guide interview. The economics quote is odd though, I'd always thought that TB did rather well for HBO.

TV Guide Magazine: Will Anna be back full time right away after the birth of her twins in November?
Ball: She is. We're moving production to January to accommodate her. And there will only be 10 shows next season partly because of Anna and partly because of the economics

http://www.tvguide.com/News/True-Blood-Finale-Alan-Ball-1052519.aspx

Heck, she was in great shape before the pregnancy, she should be able to do it in two weeks, one for each. /snark

ETA: and as is already being pointed out on other sites, they can do 10 episodes by cutting out the side stories. And Alcide (looks around for Mik).

What tha' hey?! :nono::giggles:

Completely off-topic, but just read Michael Clarke Duncan died. He was in The Green Mile (a movie which cost me a thousand tears). Very sad.

This news broke my heart.

I've found a nice review of Disconnect at HuffingtonPost and put it here in quotes. 10 minutes standig ovations......wow, Can't wait to see it!

Connecting with Disconnect by Rollo Ross

If I can tear myself away from Facebook for just one minute, I might be able to write this post.

I really want to because I have fallen in love with a movie here at the Venice film festival but it is quite difficult to focus.

Oh. Hang on. I'm just going to retweet something that says the only thing wrong with this movie is it's not in the festival's competition.

But yeah, there's this film called "Disconnect" and it got a 10-minute standing ovation at its world premiere here, and it is so well deserved. It's lean, strong and packs a punch.

It follows three interweaving stories of people whose lives are affected in one way or the other by a fascination with the internet and who each need to get more in touch with the people around them rather than just interfacing with the world wide web.

There's a TV news reporter (played brilliantly by an almost unrecognizable Andrea Riseborough), a live porn artist, a bullied emo kid and his family, a cyber detective, and finally a grieving couple who discover they're victims of internet fraud.

While I check my gmail, I'll let its director Henry Alex-Rubin (who I'm having lunch with on the Excelsior terrace) tell you about the film:-

"Well I suppose, thematically the film is about loneliness. Everyone has experienced loneliness and technology is a tool which medicates loneliness and I think all these characters are in search of something and they don't want to be so alone and want to feel connected. "

"The movie is an exploration of technology like any tool that can bring people together and separate them too. And at the end of the movie everyone is physically together whereas at the beginning of the movie they are separated."

Alex-Rubin is an Oscar-nominated documentary maker and for this movie, he even cast a 'shadow cast' which were real life counterparts of the parts in the movie that the actors could relate to.

All the characters in the movie are naïve about the dangers of the internet - except one. Frank Grillo plays the cyber detective of "Disconnect" and his shadow cast member was the head of the Cyber division of the NYPD.

Sorry, Henry, I'm going to call him to discuss this. You just eat your sandwich or check your e-mails or whatever.

"He can't stress enough that the best resource to prevent hacking on your computer is a small piece of tape that you should always have over the little camera on your computer. You should always have that. I find that to be fascinating and 25,000 people a day get their identities stolen. Now that's a lot of people. And that's in the United States and not the world. And it's not that hard to do. Just think of all the information we give away. We give it away. It's scary."

I think this is the first time I've ever seen a movie that actually portrays our reliance on modern day technology as it really is.

I could tell you more but I need to put an on-line bet on who's going to win the Best Film at the Oscars.

Thanks for that Free, it certainly is a loss for the show fans because they did a lot to keep the community aspect around it. I remember the battle of the Fang or whatever they called it being particularly successful.

With rare exceptions, I think most posters were pretty respectful of other's 'teams' and enjoyed trying to figure out what was going on with plots and such.

..I wish! I ended up in the hospital battling a nasty stomach virus :throwup:

No, hospitalizations are bad, don't do it again! :nono:

It's actually a movie about Tumblr? :smile1:

One of their admins was a pro-Eric fan, so that's a good indication they were pretty respectful of fans of all the characters. It is a loss to the TB fandom. They did a lot of good with the exposure they got.

Sorry to hear you were unwell Mik, welcome back.;)

Welcome Clove84 :D

Edit: Is the general consensus that we add Alicia Vikander to the Sgt Colbert collage? I think she's been mentioned enough to warrant it. Thoughts?

Mik, glad you are feeling better. What was up with Joe and the cornrows the other week?:p

Disconnect seems to be getting great reviews so far. Can't wait to see it.

Agree, Free, there's been enough blind items and gossip articles to add her.

CLOSE ENCOUNTERS

Blue eyes, angelic face and an ambiguous charisma. Alexander Skarsgård, the vampire of television and the face of a fragrance that invites to the contact.

This is also your first time in a campaign?

Alex: Of this dimensions, yes. I did something in the past but for a smaller brand and I got few offers too but nothing I was really interested in. What really got me was the opportunity to work with Steven Klein. I’ve already worked with him for Interview in 2011 (while in 2010 he did the Rolling Stones cover with co-stars Anna Paquin and Stephen Moyer. All three bloody naked!)

Women love vampires. In your opinion, why?

Alex: “They are strong creatures. A vampire can take care of you and protect you like no human would possibly do. But he’s also dangerous because he can kill you in a second. What’s fascinating is the element of risk.”

And it’s also sexy

Alex: “A bite can be sensual or hurtful. It’s scary but also intriguing. And then there’s the immortality: you’re a 1000 year old vampire but you look like you’re 30. It’s a very interesting idea: just think about the money people spend to stay young.”

Especially in LA where you moved for work. Do you miss Sweden?

Alex: “There are moments when I desperately miss home. When I’ve time I just catch a flight to Stockholm. Doesn’t matter if it’s for a weekend only. My family and my friends live nearby. There’s a piazza where we use to meet and have lunch or drink something. It’s sunny. When I’m here I do my best to get updated with what’s happening in Sweden. When I fly home I want to know what people are talking about.”

All your friends are there?

Alex: “Not all of them, but I keep in touch with the ones I grew up with. They are not in the show business. One is an employee and another one a carpenter. It helps to keep my feet on the ground.”

Battleship your first action movie didn’t go so well. Disappointed?

Alex: “When you spend time and energy in a project you just hope that everyone would like it. The number of the tickets is not the most important thing. I filmed Battleship 2 years ago, after Melancholia by Lars Von Trier, a movie few people watched, but it still is the most incredible experience of my life.”

Your father was in the cast too.

Alex: “The first time we worked together. It already happened in the past but I was just 7. Be on the stage with my father was like a dream comes true. He’s a phenomenal actor and my best friend.”

You started acting when you were very young and then you quit at 13 just to start again 10 years later. Weird choice.

Alex: “Be the center of the attention wasn’t very comfortable. I’m not saying I was famous like Harry Potter, but it was in the 80’s when in Sweden there were two channels only in TV.”

Did you use a fragrance when you were a teenager?

Alex: “Yeah, I thought it helped with women.”

Did it work?

Alex: “Hardly. The first time I used it, I was 11 and there was this disco for teenagers where you danced from 5 pm to 8pm. That day I decided to use a bit of perfume but ended up using it way too much. I was intolerable.”

OT: I'm looking forward to Squirrel's show.:D

:happydance:'Disconnect' really is getting some excellent reviews, including the one you just posted, '...outside bet ... Best Film at the Oscars'. Let's hope it's a huge sleeper hit for everyone involved with the movie. Way to go Alexander Skarsgård :smile1:

Yo, Squirrelly one, take out your garbage - your PM box is full. You don't have to store them for the winter you know. ;)
I am a slob. You should see my recyclables garbage.

Mik - hope y'all are feeling better. If you aren't, check out the Joe M thread, Zola has found some astounding pics for you. Daaay um.

Jooa, agree on your fave. And all the lovelies Santress posted. Rawr.

Squirrel week will blow Shark week (and its distant relative, Shark sweatshirt week), out of the water. Just sayin'. We have more tricks and troubles to get moving...

Thank you for the amazing HQ pix :faint: and for posting the Italian Vanity Fair and its translation. I wondered where all those slightly new quotes were coming from. And Squirrel Week?? :shrugs::giggles:

I've told Mik to avoid 'the dark side' until she's fully recovered - we don't want her back in the hospital with uncontrollable trembling and incoherent mumbling :giggles:
Oh yeah, and Squirrel Week is going to blow Shark Sweatshirt Week out of the water?

Thanks for posting this (VF, Italia). Saw this today. No real new news, but always enjoy the pics.

its confirmed that alex is going to tiff

Saw that, thanks Jackyoth :D

We may have a Skarsgard trio lined up at TIFF this time around.

WMK, Kon-Tiki and Anna Karenina are all screening on the 7th. So a possibility of Alex, Gustaf and Bill on the red carpets.

Given his movie is on a Friday night, that's...pretty much what we thought.

Yay!! TIFF family reunion. Love it.
