That is cute. No eye rolling here. This is a company based out of Rhode Island. Alex and Ani is the names of the daughters of the owner of the company. The bracelets are made out of recycled metals, brass. Check out their website www.alexandani.com to get the whole story. They are eco friendly and also involved with a lot if charities. Hannoush jewelers carry them. Also the paper store and some Hallmarks in my area. Check their website for retailer and their own stores locations.I have absolutely no experience with this jewelry line... I just wanted to say:
I love their name!!
But that's only because my son's name is Alex and my dog's name is Ani. :giggles:
I'll sneak away before people start rolling their eyes at me...

Each bracelet has a meaning behind it.

Post back here and let us know.Hi everyone -- I wanted to share an experience I had at Alex and Ani which was really disappointing. I really like the idea behind the bracelets and the eco-friendliness of the jewelry. One of my friends is a HUGE fan and encouraged me to visit our local store.
When I got there, a sales associate immediately greeted me and I told him that it was my first visit and experience. I started to ask him questions about the metal because I have severe allergies. He said that Russian Gold and Silver would be safe to wear. I ended up purchasing three bracelets.
When I got home, I tried the bracelets on for my husband to show him. About 15 minutes later, three hives appeared on my wrist, indicating an allergic reaction. I knew immediately that I wouldn't be able to wear these bracelets and went back to the store to return them. Imagine my surprise when one of the sales associate told me that they have an exchange only policy. At no point during my first visit did the associate communicate this to me -- if he had, I would have thought twice about purchasing the bracelets because of my allergies. I would have borrowed my friend's bracelets first to test out and if it was okay, then I would have gone back to buy them. I guess I blame myself on not being more educated or thoughtful in asking about the policy either -- I just assumed that they allowed returns. I was really sad that I essentially lost $90 on jewelry that I cannot wear.
Any way, I just wanted to share and let everyone know -- lesson learned.

Hi there -- I sent them an e-mail and got a generic form response about how my message was being forwarded to the right parties and that they strive for excellence. Either way, they've lost me as a customer. I would have purchased their jewelry for friends and family, but definitely not after the way I was treated.
meant to post these back in january but I had forgotten!
