Last year I sold off all of my Alex & Ani bangles because I didn't like the way their metal would turn dark or the plating wear away in spots and was afraid that it would scratch up my sterling bracelets if I stacked them together.

Well, I can't get away from the A&A bangles, they are so popular and everyone wears them where I am. My sister gave me the protective eye wrap in gold for my birthday. I really did miss the bracelets and their jingling sound so I re bought my favorite bangles and have been eyeing other new ones to purchase.

I don't know if I'm annoyed with them again. I wear a lot of sterling silver bracelets and I love their shiny bright finish. Next to them, the A&A bangles seem so dull in luster and cheap, and the dark spots are showing up again. I know it's a totally different metal and look but I don't want to sink more money into purchasing more bracelets if I'm going to be disappointed all over again.

Can anyone weigh in on how yours have held up over time and if you've had any issues with them.

Also, I'm wondering which metal you all prefer: their Russian silver or gold? If the silver annoy me compared to my sterling, then maybe I should only get the gold. Thoughts??

I only wear their Russian gold because I don't like the look of dull silver...I usually wear sterling silver but I love the look of their Russian gold.

I don't wear mine everyday. But I put mine on, on Sunday and was kind of annoyed with the look of the silver. I bought another today and I was thinking on the way home if maybe it was a bad idea because I don't like the way the silver ages! I'm not a huge gold fan but I think I might buy one or two to see how I feel. Or I'll have to just get over the way the silver gets. I just love the way they look :(

Omg I did not know they made Disney ones!! Are they exclusive to Disney or can you get them elsewhere?

They're exclusive to Disney. You can get them at the parks or online at disneystore.com. They are a bit more expensive than the non-Disney ones, which is a bit annoying, so I wait to go to the parks, so I can get my 20% discount.

[ QUOTE=gemlady72;26788873]Thanks for your input. I like the look of the gold better too. Do you store your bracelets in any particular way? How have they held up so far?[/QUOTE]

I'm a pretty new collector but I already have 10 bracelets! I guess you can call me obsessed. I'm the type that takes off my jewelry as soon as I get home, plus I rotate mine frequently because I only like wearing 3 at a time. I store mine out on a jewelry hanger and they still look new...I think the wear depends on your body chemistry and if you allow them to get wet or sprayed with perfume etc...I'll report back if mine start to tarnish.

Great thanks! I also don't wear jewelry around the house, just when I go out. I have my A&A bracelets right now hanging on a wooden bracelet bar in my bedroom. Wasn't sure if the regular air would tarnish them, like sterling silver does. But if I don't have them out and visible, then I'm less likely to wear them.

I have 8 so far (3 silver, 5 gold): 2 that I kept from last year's purge, 1 wrap from my sister, and 5 that I purchased for Mothers Day. I'm holding off on buying more till I see how these hold up, but there are so many designs and colors that catch my eye, lol

I generally lean toward the gold (or gladly accept whichever I'm given as gifts), but I decide if the design of the bangle I'm getting is "warm" or "cool."

Like, the snowflake, definitely a cool tone, so I got silver. But the lighthouse with the sun in back is warm, so I got gold.

I really like having both to choose from depending on what clothes I'm wearing and what other bracelets I want to stack with it on that particular day :)

That's a interesting way to decide...maybe I will try some "cool" designs in silver...do you find that one metal holds up better than the other?

...do you find that one metal holds up better than the other?

That is a good question, but I may not be able to give a fair answer! I have less silver bracelets, and have worn them less than my gold, so its probably not fair for me to compare. ...But, they are in better shape than my gold, several of which are showing tarnishing. I think its more noticeable than on the silver.
