Honestly, I think heart necklaces are for very young women. Even my 25 year old daughter mentioned she wouldn't wear one anymore. I may get flamed as well, but it's not a look I would pick for anyone probably over 25, in fact I honestly think of it more as a high school thing. As tastes become more sophisticated, I would pick something more classic, perhaps a Tiffany key, or a circle pendant, something a little less juvenile. I know a lot of people feel differently though, so ultimately it's up to the person and what they are comfortable with. I definitely wouldn't go with the very traditional heart shape in any medium at my age, as I think I'd feel a little silly. I like the sentiment, but I think there does come a time to retire certain symbols in favor of a more sophisticated and timeless look. I can't really imagine Audrey Hepburn wearing a heart pendant at 50, for instance. Now diamonds by the yard, a key, a circle pendant, a beautiful strand of pearls, or an edgy pendant, or something really different, those are looks that typify to me a woman coming into her own, confident in her look, and displaying the classy, subtle sophistication that reflects that confidence. Somehow, for me, a heart pendant, just isn't what I would pick. But I'm no expert on fashion.

We all need to pick what we ourselves love and truly enjoy it, and have confidence. If we have that, the jewelry symbols we wear will reflect it. That may be a heart for some women, and they may look gorgeous wearing it. I do think if someone is asking the question though, it may be an indication that down deep they are not feeling it, and perhaps another jewelry symbol would be better. I do know the few times I haven't listened to that inner "gut feeling" on any item of fashion, jewelry, handbag, or clothing, those are the things that have sat on a shelf, in a jewelry box and been the regretful purchases that I didn't enjoy wearing because of that niggling feeling. I've learned to listen to those little voices. They have served me well over the years.

I still love edgy fashion, and still love a youthful look (I'm not ready to shop only at Talbots by any means - ha ha!), but I've found if I listen to that voice, I go out into the world on a day to day basis much more confident in my choices, and I feel prettier and more self-assured, confident in any situation I'm in, because that little voice has enabled me to go into so many different social and environmental situations never feeling like I need to quickly remove an item of jewelry or clothing, or switch a purse, because it doesn't feel right for where I'm going.

To me, the heart symbolizes life & love.......I think it's "age-less"

Show me ONE person who feels older than they are.......we grow up way too quickly......enjoy life.....and get that heart ;)

Exactly...it IS ageless!

MANY years ago, my brother (an adult at the time) bought the floating heart pendant in gold (not Tiffany) for my grandmother's 80th birthday. He did not choose it himself though...he had help from the females in the family. She wore it everyday until the day she died (86), and then my mother had it and wore it for years until she came across a necklace she really wanted. I have it now and wear it a lot. Even though it obviously has great sentimental value to me, I love the look of it. It is clean and simple and goes with everything and I have even comtemplated buying one in white gold/platinum. You should get it and enjoy it!

After reading through this thread, I noticed one of the anchor women on tv this morning. I would guess that she is in mid-30's. She was wearing the flat solid (not outline) Tiffany silver heart on a short necklace layered with a gemstone by the yard necklace slightly longer. I thought it looked lovely.

I am not hear to "flame" you, but I opinion does differ than yours. I see many young people wearing Tiffany keys and circle pendants. It is my humble opinion that the key is a bit of a fad. However, using the key as an example, Tiffany makes many keys with hearts. Hence, if they were not fashionable for all ages, why would Tiffany create so many examples?

Personally, I feel that heart pendants are very classic.

Heart jewelry has been around much longer than key pendants; and heart jewelry will ALWAYS be around. Trends in jewelry change, sure, and key pendants and DBTY are TRENDY right now. Yes, they are beautiful and could and should be worn forever by the people who love them, but there is no question that they are only very recently popular. Heart jewelry has stood the test of time and isn't going anywhere.

How it is styled can definitely be younger or older or stylized or modern or classic. But heart jewelry itself has been and will be around forever.

Everyone Is entitled to an opinion. I am 31 and LOVE hearts. I have the medium and small open heart pendants and I love them. I have the rtt heart tag bracelet and pendant charm on a bead necklace... I don't love this so much as feel that the RTT range is quite young.
For Christmas my boyfriend... He's 41 got me the new mini heart key with pink sapphire and I love it trendy or not. I am not sure how many years I'll wear the RTT heart tag on my necklace or the key but the open heart is a classic any aged women can wear so I say go for it... It's all about personal style and taste not your age.

I'm in my 30s and I just received a small diamond heart pendant for Christmas. I adore it. It is simple and that is what I like about it. I have found that some heart jewelry appears younger in age, but I think there are plenty if pieces that are simile and classic. I think if you love heart jewelry then go for it!!

I'm 25 and just recently got into heart jewelry. I wear heart pendants all the time, and fully intend on wearing them til I'm 90!
(Also, I get tons of compliments on them from people of all ages.. I think it's a sweet and feminine style that anyone can wear).
