-If you have to ask other people's opinions about a bag, it's not for you. You'll know when it is the one.

Was this sentence of enlightenment sent from Heaven or what. I've been in a bag frenzy with my friend for the past month and harassing her for opinions on a daily basis, but there were only two bags i was so dead sure on that i never asked her if they would suit me - i am saving up for those two RIGHT NOW! Thank you couturequeen!!!! ;)

Yes! I agree! I always see people asking everyone on here what they think of this or that bag or whether they should get this or that bag and I always think, "If you have to ask you should NOT get that bag!" :roflmfao:

My advice, which has probably been already said, but I didn't read all the way to the start, is... If you have your heart set on an expensive bag, then wait and save for that bag. Do not buy anything else, even if cheaper. I have ended up spending more than the price of what I really wanted for cheaper bags I got tired of.

GREAT advice!!!

I just wanted to express appreciation for all of the wonderful advice given. I wholeheartedly agree with the points of saving for bags that you've found an absolute love for. I contemplated the recent purchase of my very first LV bag for my birthday and saved for two years to get the bag that made my heart skip a beat. For me personally, as I start to build my collection, I plan to only buy pieces that I LOVE and to order online instead of the store. The tax is better and the shipping is usually free. I drove nearly 3 hours to Saks in New Orleans to buy a bag that had been sitting in the bright store lights.....loved it too much to leave it, but next time I'll purchase online.

You are here, looking for advice. Stop, don't read further. Think about that for a minute. Or two. Or take five, that's OK, we're not going anywhere.

My advice: Run. Far away. If you stay, your budget is done for and you are never going to be content with your bag life again.

But you'll have lots of support. We're here for ya.

Really. We're everything but the bank you need to get the money you'll have to have to finance your new addiction. Er, sorry, 'collection'.

So true.

Don't think all the "congrats" and "that looks good on you" are true. People lie on this forum, too. So, if you ever thinking about asking if you "should" buy, don't do it. If you have to ask, maybe inside is screaming for you not to get.

Don't thinking about asking "what should be my next bag". It's ok to keep your money cool and right there in your wallet or account wherever. It never hurt to have cash on hand. When that next bag comes, you will know what to buy.

Just because it's the "in" bag right now doesn't mean it's a classic bag and that you can wear it forever. Bags are accessories and it's part of fashion. And it'll always be just that. The only way it will be classics and timeless is for you to love it and wear it. Otherwise, it's just a piece of material.

Don't go shopping on a depressed day. You'll never know what you may end up with. If you do, think really hard before paying and make sure you can return it.

Don't be ashamed to shop sale racks! ( Most of my mom's gorgeous bags that she loves to death came from a sale!)

Being slightly OCD, I always check over the bag! Anything less than perfect is unacceptable.

Ask yourself if you can see yourself carrying this bag a year from now? 2 years? And so on.

When you first purchase a bag, you may experience so buyers remorse. Don't let it bother you!!

1. Don't buy a bag unless you love it. I know it is easy to get caught up in the hype of tPF.
2. If possible go to the store and try the bag out. Sometimes you see a bag online and think it is for you but once you get to the store you might realize the bag just doesn't fit you or your lifestyle.
3. If you buy preloved bags always get them authenticated here. We have some true experts on tPF!
4. If the bag you want is expensive take the time and save up for it. Don't waste money on cheaper alternatives
5. Don't go in debt for bags! You don't want to still be paying for a bag years from now with credit car interest rates and etc.
