Advice on my upgrade! Cushion with what setting?

I love halos, but in this case I think you should let you stone be free and beautiful all on its own.

Update:

Spoke with the dealer and I am trying to get some off but he is SO firm right now. He is calling the owner to see what he can do. 10% is too much to ask for at this point. I really thought diamond price should be tanking right now but it's not the case. Someone just bought a half carat RED diamond (SUPER RARE) for 1.5M. Looks like there are still lots of rich people out there.

I agree with many here that since the stone is big on its own that I would probably leave it as it is and maybe do some variations on the band. But I really like the #1 setting that I sent. It's still simple but very elegant.

cat, dont you like a simple 4-prong setting on a micropave band? i think it will showcase the cushion perfectly esp. in such a huge stone. cushion has that "heavy stone" look and i like to offset it with a really dainty micropave band. so pretty!

I like number as well. Since your diamond is so large I think this setting shows it off better than a halo. While I have always been a fan of Halo's my Grandmother's e-ring was a halo I think in this size diamond a halo would just be too much.

Im a real fan of the novo setting (or even just a plain band) ... with a ROCK like that i think the halo might be a bit OTT ... but some people can really pull it off so im sure whatever you go with will be right.

Im also surprised that considering the current economic climate that diamond prices are still so high ...

Update:

still negotiating with the dealer. We are few thousands off of reaching a price that we both can agree on. I am going with the Tiffany Novo setting if we do decide to purchase the ring.

i do have to say, i have always liked the cushion cut with 2 trilliant or similar shaped diamonds on each the side

if i woke up with a ring like that on my finger....i'd think i was in heaven
