Alexander Wang A. Wang Rocco Pros and Cons

I have a Rocco. It's black with brass hardware. I bought it in October 2011 from Barneys. I probably carried it daily for less than a year. I love the style, but it hasn't held up super well in terms of the materials IMO, plus stating the obvious, it is really heavy. The lining tore early on and the shoulder strap leather ripped in two this weekend. I would only consider the purse if you're rotating because it's not a workhorse. I'm having it repaired and my guy said he repairs a ton of them because the leather is too soft to hold up long-term. HTH.
That is so sad! If it doesn't hold up well then NO I cannot get it :(

Wow, I'm reading styleconsul's post, and that is terrible. I have 7 Roccos and adore them. I use the black lamb w/brass the most often, simply because it has my favorite leather (the smooshy older version) and I think it's so perfect for my personality and style sense. I love that it is understated, but then has the crazy bullets underneath. It makes it unusual. The weight is a bummer, but it doesn't ever stop me from wearing it. As for quality issues, I've had none, and I've had mine almost 2 years. Keep in mind I do rotate, but usually use her at least 4-5 times a week. I've treated the edges with edge-kote and I never set her down on anything hard. I keep her on a blanket at work and in the car (obsessed, I know) because I don't want any wear to show. In addition to that I keep my items in a smaller carrier so I can take them in and out quickly when I want to change bags. I have not had quality issues with any of my Wang's at all.
Good luck, hope you'll consider one!
(PS I want to mention that I also own Balenciaga, Prada, Marc Jacobs and Chloe, and my Rocco is still my favorite)

It's a gorgeous, gorgeous bag, and the studs gets so many compliments from people. The only downside I'm finding with it is that it's never in a duffel-shape form. It's always flat and it's so annoying. I stuff it when I store it but it's still flat. :/

I really love how big the bag is and that it comes with a long strap that can be worn cross body. The major con for me is how heavy it is. I don't really notice it when I carry it every day but when I do take a break from the bag it's like whoa!

I think a lot of girls my age carry around the Rocco or LV Speedy. They are both around the same size and price range. Even though the Rocco is made in China, it is made from leather as opposed to canvas. It's more bang for your buck IMO and it's knocked off way less.

Those 2 reasons are why I chose the Alexander Wang over LV. That, and those studs :graucho::love:

I considered the Speedy B but wasn't really up for paying a few hundred dollars extra for extra vachetta and a strap.

For those of you who have and used the rocco awhile how's it holding up?

I've had mine since mid 2010 and use it a couple times a month (3-4), overall it's looking pretty good but the edge piping is worn. I don't mind it at all though bc I feel like it gives it a little more of the downtown cool girl vibe. I don't baby my bags but I am not a naturally destructive person if that makes sense. I can take some pics if I remember to!

The lamb leather is very soft (which is why I love his bags...they just feel really nice). Alexander Wang recently started producing Roccos with the smooth leather, I don't own one but does anyone know if they are more durable than the soft pebbled leather?
The smooth looking AW bags are made of cowhide, and the pebbly looking ones are made of lambskin. I have the smooth black w/light pale gold Rocco and the leather is very durable..

All the websites seem to miss label the leather types. But if you go on the AW site you will which bags are made of 100% cowhide, or 100% lambskin!

I ve also read online that cowhide is a much more durable leather then lambskin.

After hearing about the quality issues with the rocco I'm torn between that and a DE speedy 30 :/

I have both and I feel like the De speedy is much more suitable to everyday use. I love my rocco but I can't use it for when I'm shopping because it's heavy and it will start to hurt my back if I have have it on my shoulder for more than 30 minutes straight. The speedy is pretty durable with the canvas and light. My mercury rocco piping is starting to wear and my jeans have already rubbed off on it. Just my experience with the two bags

Thank you so much for your input. I love how light the speedy is, but I love the unique look of the rocco and the fact I could get a black to go with more outfits
