Thank you everyone for your kind compliments. Just a little bit more information, the ring is handcrafted from a solid piece of gold. The honeycombs are filed and sawed using traditional Florentine methods. And it takes up about 3 to 4 months to make a single ring. Amazing, isn't it?

Ascella, I will PM you (once I figure out how!!)

Someone help!! How do I send a PM???

Oh it's stunning !

Did you visit the bridge with all the jewellers for this ?

Yes!! There is a small Buccellati franchise at the corner of Ponte Vecchio (the bridge). The jewellery shops are amazing, don't you think? I could have spent all day shopping there if only I had a bottomless bank account.

What a gorgeous ring! And it is amazing the kind of craftsmanship that goes into such a stunning piece; it is even more special because you know the work that went into it. I am glad the jeweler gave you what sounds like a wonderful price, too. Congratulations!

Does you have any recommendations for any other Ponte Vecchio jewelers? My parents are going to Florence next month. Your ring is SO gorgeous, but I don't think I can ask for a souvenir like that!

The shop I went to is called Vaggi. Besides the Buccellati franchise, they also have the Roberto Coin franchise as well as their own designs. What I would look for are antique Florentine jewellery. They're very intricate and some have the Buccellati type of toolwork. I only shopped at Vaggi so I'm afraid I can't recommend you another shop. But there was another shop I found, thanks to the guide book, that has been making jewellery for 5 centuries! Imagine that! It's at 10R Piazza Del Duomo (just next to the Duomo), and the shop is called Torrini. I didn't quite like the designs though.

You sure you can't stow away in your parent's luggage? If you love jewellery, Florence is heaven! It is, after all, a town of artisans.
