I was literally just coming here to post this one! They aren't even "authenticating" good fakes!
(I reported the bag from post #1960 and when someone finally got back to me they had a very casual oh really? attitude. Took them over a week to do anything about it. Buyer beware for tRR!)
I feel that lol. Meanwhile, they rejected a couple 03 first bags I sent in for "style" (but accepted others) and when I inquired my rep said something about "unnotched rivets". I told her that sounded like a veiled authenticity concern and asked if they could be reevaluated by someone with more knowledge of the brand but the response I got was about how their authenticators are trained experts, yada ya.

And I mean sure, I don't doubt that they are. But that doesn't mean they can't make mistakes (clearly in either direction), or learn something that makes them better, esp if such obvious fakes are getting through. :(

I reported both bags and here was the response:

"We appreciate you taking the time to reach out to us.
Authenticity is the cornerstone of The RealReal. We staff in-house professionals including gemologists, horologists, art appraisers and apparel experts that authenticate every item.
All items are put through a rigorous authentication process by a team of experts guided by our Director of Authentication & Brand Compliance. During this inspection process, we validate appropriate brand markings, date codes, serial tags and hologram stickers as applicable. Each item passes through our strict authenticity test before it is accepted for consignment.
Our authentication process is always evolving to incorporate new innovations and stay ahead of the latest developments with brands and counterfeiters. We have deployed advanced artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) to support our authentication experts, including Item Risk Scoring, in which we assess more than 50 data points on each item and consignor combination to identify points of risk before an item is evaluated by our authentication team.
Your feedback will be passed forward. Both of these Balenciaga have been pulled for review by our authentication team."
