Ladies, I have been wearing my XL bag for a couple weeks and I am loving it. i had not purchased a Coach bag in years. I had moved up to LV, Prada, Chanel, Gucci, etc. however I was pleasantly surprised by the tasteful minimal hardware and the leather is "great" quality like Coach from back in the day. I, too struggled with dropping a grand on a coach bag but I absoulutley LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it.

Coach has a smaller version of the bag, the Vintage leather large Ergo tote (similar to the large Ergo tote, but the leather is different) and it is $548. I have this one, and it is quite large...I cannot even imagine how big the XL (Maude) must be!

The Maude is seriously HUGE! I tried one on at my outlet. They got a brand new one on accident and my SA new I was interested in it so held it for me! Anyhow, it was just way too big for me. I was thinking of it as a laptop/work bag or a carryon for travel. I think it's too big for me for a laptop bag and I'd rather have something that fully closes if my laptop is in it. And, I don't travel enough to buy it for a carryon. At the outlet it was $713 plus tax - almost a $300 savings. But, since I wouldn't really get the use, I didn't buy it. I almost thought about it for eBay since it was such a good price, but decided against it.
You say $1000 is alot for Coach, but the bag is huge and you'd be ill pressed to find much more than clutches,leather trimmed at best, and small bags with $1000 at Chanel or LV. Just my 2 cents. Didn't think it was a fair comparison.
A bag that large at LV or Chanel would probably cost at least twice as much.

actually i was at the coach store in vegas (the larger one at ceasers) and one of the SA pulled out this rare i dunno ostrich/crocodile somethinnnnnnnng out of the ordinary bag and it was well into the upper 1000s!!!! i was so surprised that coach even made them! But i am kind of glad that they are trying to push the buttons and introduce bags that are beautiful, no matter the price tag!

seriously, a bag of that size for $1000 is a good price. it's really not so expensive.
I tried on the XL Maude at the store. It is sooo huge it is almost like a comedy prop (sorry if you love it).
Yup. I was at my outlet today and the SA told me it hasn't sold yet. Someone else has it on hold, but hasn't shown up yet. She thinks the person won't show. So, if someone wants it for a steal, it's $719 at my outlet.

The Coach store at the Galleria has a couple of them on display. I love them, but they really are big. I'm a lover of big bags, but I don't think even I could carry it on a daily basis, without feeling silly. If I had the money and felt confident enough, I would totally rock that bag though. Instead I bought the $548 Vintage leather Large Ergo tote.
