A long bedtime story of sea mist and camels and pink rubies...

Thank you all for the kind comments on the story. I started out just writing a quick "hey I got this new thing" post and then it morphed into a full-on story.



I feel a little sorry for sea mist too. DH reminded me that they are not mutually exclusive, and if I decide I can't live without sea mist I can go back and get her when my next payday rolls around. That said, there's a toaster I have my eye on, so we'll see who wins

I love the idea of illustrations! I suck at hand drawn art, but I could maybe run my photos through Photoshop and see if I can come up with something like that. It wouldn't help much with the other characters, but it's a start. Hmmm...

Food for thought - The Toaster comes in Sea Mist - I was able to call JAX and order one. (apparently not released in the US, but they still had some available in JAX). The Toaster hasn't gotten a lot of love on TPF... but I've bought the large and small, and actually like carrying them better than the Preston.

Food for thought - The Toaster comes in Sea Mist - I was able to call JAX and order one. (apparently not released in the US, but they still had some available in JAX). The Toaster hasn't gotten a lot of love on TPF... but I've bought the large and small, and actually like carrying them better than the Preston.

I'm completely enjoying carrying Preston - he's the perfect work bag. But I also really like the Toaster, at least in the pics online. The shape reminds me of a Balenciaga Box I had circa 2007, which I sold in a moment of weakness...and now they don't make that style any more. How did you find out about the other Toaster colors? And, do you find the handles on the large Toaster long enough for arm carry?

I can go for months (sometimes years) without being interested in anything at Coach. Then they come out with multiple fantastic, classic styles in delicious pebbled leather, and I want them all!

First, Toaster straps are definitely long enough for arm carry. That's usually how I carry it, but if I'm carrying for longer periods of time (like shopping in the city yesterday), I carry it cross body. At first, I wasn't sure I'd like it - it's awfully soft - and back gets slouchy when you carry - but after carrying a week, I love it!

To find out what other colors it came in, I emailed JAX (via the "contact us" on the website). I usually word the email like this - "Can you tell me if there are any Bleecker Toaster - style no. XXXXX - in Sea Mist still available to order from distribution?"............ie, if I've seen the color on another style, or on the Coach China website (as some colors are Asian market exclusive) - so I act like I know what I'm talking about - and that they had or have the color available. I usually get a response back that there are low quanities, available to order only by calling. I did the same with the Neutral Pink color, and found it was available only in the small Toaster -

The Preston - I do still love the "look" - and have 2 large, and 3 small - but I'm finding the large is just too large! You said "the perfect work bag"....... maybe I should go back to work! I quit! (long story, but hub retired early.... and a few months after he retired, I said 'heck, I think I'll "retire" too....and spend some of that money before you spend it all!' .... he said - 'wait.... you're not old enough to retire...".... I said, "watch me").
