A Cautionary Tale

Thank you for your response and I am so happy that I've found this space to get feedback. I am currently in communication with Dooney and Bourke by email to find out if this bag is authentic because of the tag being sewn number side down. I've also been in communication with Poshmark and just sent them pictures of this as well. The bag seems to be real and i own many Dooney and Bourke purses but have never had a tag like that. And up until recently I didn't realize how many people have been scammed on a fake and that worries me. I agree with you and think this is a flynn. The measurements are 9" height 10"length 5"width. I don't own any flynn bags and know nothing about them so I'm unsure if this is a small or not. If you have any idea I'd love to know and will also hopefully find out more when i hear back from the rep at Dooney.

Based on those measurements, it's a small Flynn.
Several small Flynn are listed on I Love Dooney with measurements of
8.75" H x 10" L x 5" W.
The bags listed as just Flynn (without a size designation) are 12.5 " L and 6" W.
Hope this helps.

I have such mixed feelings when I see
handbag 'dupes'. Counterfeit bags are a whole
other thing and my feeling there are clearly... NO WAY.

But dupes are much more complicated in my mind.
The quality and the construction and the leather of a handbag
are really important to me... including the feel of the leather and
the details of the leather trim inside and out. I don't care about the logo
on the outside... and often remove extra hang tags.
On the other hand, I don't like the idea that companies are suggesting
a brand by using very similar logo patches. Not only is that misleading
(or misrepresenting) but it also devalues the brand in the market,
affecting every consumer (and often the reputation and financial situation of the
original brand).

No handbag design is truly unique.... so every brand is inspired by others.
And it's nice to be able to try out a style before spending mega bucks on
the luxury item. If I saw a good quality bag, made by a brand I trusted,
but the bag was inspired by or resembled a Birkin.... I might be tempted to
try it out. But I'm not interested if it's a low quality dupe.

On top of that, not everyone has the money to buy more expensive
handbags, or really cares to spend however much money they have on bags
To some people, a canvas tote is all they need. Everyone gets to make
the choices that work for them. Most of my friend think I'm nuts to own as
many handbags as I do. They would rather spend their money on vacations, etc.

Of course there are the considerations of working conditions and pay for
people who work in the factories where the bags are produced. And any
environmental considerations of the materials or processes used. And by buying
'dupes' are we supporting enterprises that don't pay their workers a living wage
or decent working conditions? We won't even get into considerations of crime and
funding for illicit purposes.

So, it's complicated. Hopefully those who purchase these dupes understand
what they are buying and are happy with their choices. I'd rather have
1 real Dooney than 10 dupes. But then again, I'd rather have
10 Dooneys than 1 real very high end luxury brand.

Here we go! Another buyer got scammed by these Temu bags.

If you’re new to buying D&B, do yourself & your bank account a favor, post the bag here to be verified it’s real.

LJ the way she felt that dupe and said it was quality…. I was at a loss for words. Those are the same bags that people put a dooney patch on and try to sell for $250+
