So my husband and I are shopping for a 3 year anniversary ring for me and I am debating between a cushion or a round. Here is the question. Would you rather get a 1.80 carat Round or a 2.44 cushion? They actually are approximately the same size in mm and same clarity, color, and price.

If you have a round I would get a cushion. And probably a nice big chunky one? Even in a warmer color so it's different than your current collection. Or if you open to colors maybe a pretty canary one in either shape.

Thanks for all of your comments. This really is tough. See, I originally wanted a Pear with halo on an eternity band, but many jewelers told me a good qualtiy 2 carat Pear is hard to find. I will probably have to sacrifice a little on the polish and the symmetry and maybe deal with a little bit of fluor. Round and cushion are much more popular and they sparkle a lot more than the pear. The problem is a 2.0 round is out of our budget so I have to get between 1.8-1.9 since I want to make sure that the diamond is at least VS1 and F color. Cushion is definitely cheaper than round but the mm is so much smaller compare to an equivalent 2.0 carat so with our budget, we can up it to a 2.4
But I mean should I go with the popular Round and deal with the fact that it's below 2 carat, or how many of you have voted cushion because it is bigger in carat weight?
