Wife thinks they’re “messing with a classic” but is intrigued. I wonder if they’ll make them in full leather insert as well. That would look like a more usable clutch.

Also, it’s great to see veins on the runway just reinforcing that they’re in no way a “defect”

I looove veining and I’d take veining any day over a boring “uniform” Togo

I am not a clutch person so the flexibility does not appeal to me.

In addition, I personally don’t like the extra weight and less room for the bag...If I take the clutch out, it becomes an open tote which can be inconvenient for some situations.eg an open tote without any zip/flap on the passenger seat can be a nightmare..

It wouldn't be able to attach on the front because the turn lock would be in the way.
The clutch goes inside the bag with the flap hanging over the front or somewhere in the back of the bag depending on where you position it. If you look at the press photos a little more closely you can see holes for the sangles to string through.

I'm confused - from what I understand, this "Birkin Pochette" is made to sit on the inside of the bag, but against the inside of the front, not the back. The handle openings hang around the front handle. I suppose it could sit, unhooked, against the back of the bag, against the tucked-in flap.

I also believe that it was shown at an angle on the runway to illustrate that it is not affixed to the bag. It appears to me that the Birkin itself is a regular Birkin, and that it just comes with this Pochette that can be used with the bag or separately.

I am wondering whether the Birkin Pochette will also be sold separately, but I'm sure it would be, ah, challenging (to say the least) to find a match for any particular color bag.

You can clearly see in the pictures that the main Birkin bag does NOT have the typical flap and that the only flap is from the removable pochette. Presumably, one could temporarily remove the sangles from their holes and thread the pochette into the sangles to hold it in the front or the back of the bag.

That would open up the possibility of creating your own birkins with unique color palettes without going through SO. Will Hermes like this idea? I’m curious!! I would not mind a gris mouette B and rose sakura/rose confetti insert combo Haha!

so should we assume that the two sangles are just one long strap that loops around the bag? It doesn’t look that way from the side view. The insert may just have to do without the sangles since it wasn’t even shown on the runway with them, was it?

I’m not sure I understand your question but maybe this will help? There are holes through the pochette sides meant to be threaded through the main bag’s sangles...

Ah I misinterpreted your comment haha. I thought you were saying that we can take the sangles off the bag and thread it through the insert when we use it as a clutch! Silly me.

The pochette itself has no hardware and no closure mechanism aside from gravity. I actually think it would be quite cumbersome to put anything inside and/or retrieve it without completely mangling the leather flap, but time will tell.

I agree. One reason I like to leave the flap open is because I like more accessible openings. The clutch is simply to slim to have the flap tucked in and I just know I will be constantly struggling with it when I reach in to retrieve my phone or cardholder.

I would really like this....until it rained (the only time I use the flap!)

I’m intrigued by this design... I appreciate the versatility of having a removable pochette but I am not entirely sure how functional it will be, and I’m not in love with the look of the pochette. I’m curious enough I’d like to see it in person first before deciding yay or nay.
