Hi Lovelies!

For our 10 year wedding anniversary, I'm going to be upgrading my engagement ring. I can't decide between getting a 3.8 carat round brilliant classic solitaire or a 2.5 carat center stone Tiffany Soleste cushion cut double halo? If I go with the solitaire I could get a bigger stone because I wouldn't be getting a Tiffany, but I love the look of the Tiffany Soleste and with the double halo it does look substantial. Here are some sample pics of the two styles I'm deciding between.

Thanks for your input!

How about a cushion solitaire? Or an old cut diamond (I think they're beautiful). The only diamond shapes that I really like in a halo are round in a cushion cut halo or Asscher in a similar shaped halo. I don't know why, I don't care for round stones in a round halo.

From someone who has both, I thought I would chime in. If the comparison btw a 3cts round and a 2.5ct generic halo, I would say solitare. But Tiffany Soleste? that definitely gets my vote. It is so refined and elegant on your finger. I hardly wear my solitare neither my generic hallo which is also 2.6cts center any more. My yellow diamond Soleste is my choice ever! Hope that helps:)

I love both so I am no help :P
I have both but I have been married a long time. I got the halo as an anniversary ring, and I find I wear it more than my solitaire. I am a sucker for a halo.

I would get a Tiffany solitaire. I have a larger size diamond solitaire from Tiffany and get a lot of compliments. The Tiffany setting is beautiful, often copied, but never quite duplicated. It’s the reference and why so many people copy the look.

Your Tiffany solitaire will be all about the diamond. Gorgeous. I love mine.

I also agree with other posters here the halo is a fad and now even looks a bit dated and cheap to me as everyone seems to have one.

Ok, don’t hate me! I’m not going to give you an answer, just something to think about. I’m in the same boat because I love both the Tiffany solitaire setting and Tiffany Soleste, and even I’m torn. So a few things come to mind:

Yes, the Tiffany solitaire is a classic. It’s the perfect ring with the diamond being the main focus. It’s loved by everyone so much so it’s pretty common (I live in a densely populated area). Your stone is going to be large, which is a big plus! Especially since you’re not getting a true Tiffany piece, it will allow you to get a much larger stone.

Now the Tiffany Soleste. This ring is definitely popular and understandably so! It’s a beautiful ring that dazzles in every light, but are you going to get sick it when it’s not as popular? However, whenever I see it in person or in a picture, it is lustworthy. A ring nobody would mind having in their collection.

I think what it comes down to is what looks better on your finger? Will you every want to upgrade down the road (consider the store’s policy)? Which one can you not stop thinking about? Does your husband to be have any input? And of course, which one do you truly love?

You can’t go wrong with either decision! And hey there’s always a wishlist. Who said you can’t switch it up or wear one as a RHR?
