Hmm, still thinking. I took some measurements of my current favorite daytime bags, and it turns out that my favorites are actually on the larger side! One is even larger than 32 cm long and doesn't look too bulky. I may end up getting a 32 Kelly after all, especially since I'm only interested in the retourne version. The sellier is just lovely, but looks a bit formal for everyday. Maybe one day when I win the lotto, I'll get both. :D

I think it's definitely not just about height. There is a question of where you carry most of your weight, short- or long-waistedness, bone structure and so on.
I personally am with S'mom. I am 5' 2 1/2" and on the thin/small-boned side, and I prefer a 28 to 32 on me visually speaking. I don't carry much each day so the 28 is plenty big if it's retourne. I do have a 32 retourne that feels quite big on me though I can pull it off, and my 32 sellier is the least used bag for me because the hard corners get to me. I think it's very pretty though, has more of a presence, just not something I can reach for everyday.
You might also consider the weight of the bag. I love that a 28 is so light.

I'm 5'0 and 100lbs, size 2-4 small bone. I have a 32 kelly and love it. The size is just perfect for me.

i think both sizes work great for everyday use for women 5'0- 5'6. 28 would be better for more formal occasions for taller women.

thanks to the ladies for sharing their modeling pics!! gosh I REALLY want a kelly now!!

I also think that you have to try on the Kelly to see which size 'fits' you...I'm 5'3" and just feel the 32 is right for me.....I do love the look of the 28 though and may consider one for later:graucho::yes:

An update: I ended up getting a 32 retourne Kelly and it is the perfect everyday bag for me! I think that the tapered shape makes it look less bulky than the 32 cm dimension would suggest. Thanks for the advice, everyone!

I am a 5"4, have a 32 retourne and 28 sellier. I first purchased the 32 retourne, it looks good because it's casual looking, but heavy for me, so I purchased a 28 sellier which is lighter, but more formal.

It really is a matter of personal preference. You really have to try one on and see how you feel. You're the one who will be ultimately carrying this bag for many many years to come.
