My brown bags.

The top two are vintage Coach treasures. The one on the left was made around 1962-1964. It is a style I would still love if they made it today. The one on the right was probably made in 1976. They only made it in suede for a very short time. I feel extremely fortunate to have found these before the vintage Coach market went crazy.

Next row are both Coach, from 2007 and 2012.

Bottom row: vintage Dooney & Bourke and Kate Spade from a few years ago.

I love that you are keeping and protecting the vintage Coach babies!
Please feel free to contribute/update to the Feeling Brown thread. Brown has had a revival in the last couple of years. I don't know why is ever went out, there is a brown to suit everyone.

------------------

Last Sunday, a neighbour helped me fix my sink (don't worry, he was an actual plumber by trade). I'd spent a week without a kitchen sink or washing machine. All the pipes had to be renewed but I didn't have to buy a new sink or taps. The problem was the outflow pipe had dropped at the top-end so the rest of the pipe was no longer tilted downwards.

This morning another neighbour helped me re-roof my shed even though it took him all morning. Since the tree fell there was an actual hole and it was a lot worse than the tree-surgeon reported. The supporting timber is still damp and one supporting beam is still damaged, but re-roofing is still the best solution for now.

These things happened since DH has been undergoing treatment. I am very grateful to these kind people giving up the best part of their Sundays for me.

I'll go out in a minute, not sure which bag to take, perhaps a vintage brown Loewe (all my Loewe are vintage).

I almost took my 1969 Gucci patent leather top-handle with lapis closure. The bag is so magnificent but the patent is soooo bad, I can really only wear it in amongst a young (or arty) crowd that thrifts all belongings. Occasionally it's perfect because it's imperfect - as it would have been with my outfit last night :girlsigh:. I wore my vintage black Chanel jacket with a Victorian gold/amethyst brooch. However, I had to carry 2 birthday presents (for 2 different people) so needed a larger bag.

Throwing my boots out that 'died' yesterday. Once the glue goes - Back in trusty DMs today :girlsigh: I must make sure I always have a spare pair.
You deserve good support from others.
What a wonderful range of brown and tan colors. You’re prepared for any outfit!

I see you’ve kept the croc bag. Did you ever figure out how to wear it and what to do with the handle?

OUR PRIMARY SUITE RENOVATION IS DONE! :woohoo: Movers come Tuesday to put everything back into place. Bedroom furniture is stashed in my art and guest rooms, clothes are on racks in the living room, bathroom items are in bins in the pantry... It’s been chaos! LOL!

But, the end result is stunning. I literally laid down in my new closet and stared up at the chandelier because everything is so pretty. :giggle: I can’t wait to have the first night’s peaceful sleep in my bedroom!!!!! Plus, I know my handbags will be relieved to be released from bins and restored to places of honor in the closet.

But - because we’re crazy - we’re immediately starting on the backyard renovation. I’m putting in a new two tiered patio, a water feature with sitting area and a pergola with an outdoor kitchen, TV area and a hot/cold plunge jacuzzi tub. This is replacing a drainage challenged swampy backyard with a horrible “mosquito hotel” pond. Luckily we can save all the beautiful shade trees which is what sold me on the backyard’s potential.

The good thing is this will only take a month and won’t impact how I live in the house. So the construction phase will be relatively painless. But all the expenditures mean the only handbags I’ll be buying for the foreseeable future will be in my dreams. Thank goodness for the shopping my closet philosophy! It will be fun to actually see my bags so I can play with them again instead of just using the three I pulled for easy access.

I did, however, root around in my bins last night to take this lovely out with me to a new acquaintance’s party. While I didn’t enjoy the event at all :whut:, I at least had fun reuniting with my sparkly silver lamb Miu Miu shopping tote. I was reminded of how I’d seen this bag just as it was going out of stock everywhere and I had to hunt down one of the last available. We’ve been happy together ever since!

Gorgeous renovations are much more important than any bag! Congrats and would love to see pics if you are so inclined :)

Yep, sometimes the most fun part of an evening out is figuring out what bag and what to wear lol :D Love metallics and love that style from Miu miu and Prada

Apparently brown bags are back (even mentioned in this article)

Sparkletastic’s Brown and Tan Bags

I look best with warmer toned colors so I’ve tended towards caramels as I’ve purposefully branched out into buying brown bags over the past two years. Caramel goes equally well with my wardrobe since I tend to favor black as my dark neutral over earth tones.

I’d be curious to see if a warm toned dark brown bag would work in my closet but I’m in no rush to buy any bags right now. My collection is feeling very “shoppable” and I’m NOT repeating last year’s buying frenzy.

Goodness - when I rains, it pours! (Terrible pun I know)
So grateful for your kind neighbors - you are very lucky to have them!
What a pain (literally) about your boots!
So beautiful - I really like the second from last - what is it?

And I added this Gucci in 2024

(Still amused by the Gucci - I swore I’d never have another, then wanted one but couldn’t get it, now here I am again - hello old friend!)

I have the vintage version of the Gucci Ophidia Boston. Can't beat a classic, and a classic is a classic.

Horror of horrors, I looked at the brand of the boots inside, and they were actually Doc Martens! 😱 Probably an 'extra' pair I may have picked-up in the sale.

I know my feet are very strong, but I will never buy a pair of high-street shoes/boots again unless the uppers are visibly sewn or nailed on.

Brown vintage Loewe chain bag yesterday for shopping in town.
Brown Dr. Roberts pouch today for the beach.

Don't let me forget for April stats I bought 4 new Murano glass rings! I have no idea why since I have enough rings to sink a passing cruise ship let alone a Venetian gondola.

No clue what to do with the croc bag. I took it out of the closet and put it elsewhere while I figure it out.

Thanks @Cookiefiend :) I love yours esp the one second from: the left in the group pic that looks like vache natural
lol @Vintage Leather . I remember both the preppy handbook and Sloan rangers.

@dcooney4 , it’s nice to give a bag a time out to figure out where it fits in your life. Love the color and leather texture of your third bag :)
Thank you!
That is a vintage Gucci - I think it’s from the ‘90s (@papertiger), and the leather is very much like vache natural! It’s lined in the same leather and has a very unusual clasp.
I posted it in the vintage Gucci thread - I’ll try to find it ❤️

It’s gorgeous! Hope you are settled in your new place. Wanted also to say I was inspired by your rehoming the dalvy. I try to edit out imaginary life stuff and buy and keep stuff that works for my real life too. :)

Post #130 is monumental! Love!:heart::heart::heart:
