2023 Resolution: Shopping my Own Bags and SLG Collection

TPF may earn a commission from merchant affiliate

A long standing tradition in this thread is to remind ourselves of how wonderful our own collections are by showcasing them. We can see how far we have come, collection wise, and we reminded that we have all (or most of) what we need making it easier to shop our own closets.

• New theme weeks start each Sunday

• Don’t jump ahead but, if you miss a week, please do show your bags “late”.

• Show bags individually or in a group

• You do NOT have to wear the bags that week

• For added fun, show old pictures from previous years to demonstrate how you have curated it over time.

• This is completely voluntary. There is no pressure to post at any time.

So what are the showcases? In the Fall, we group our bags by makers! Feel free to show bags, small leather goods, or however it is easiest to organize!

For this week's 'orange and yellow', I'll post my Brahmin Large Duxbury that my mother got me for my birthday in 2019. This is a picture from last summer. Since it's also pink, I will post it again next week. :) I don't have a yellow bag, though. I do have another with some orange in it, but it has so many colors it really fits best in the multicolor week.

The yellow is 2012 Coach Legacy duffle in sunflower
That chick charm is adorable with it!

Exactly! I really love the design of the pouch with the snake clasp. It looked so nice when I saw it on youtube, but the leather was a disappointment and the size was much smaller than I had expected, too. I didn´t even ask to try it on.
Same experience recently. I used to think I would one day upgrade to Bvlgari because I especially like the bag straps that look so much like jewelry. Not at all fond of their leather or even the designs irl (the bags are not structured in a practical way. It'd be tetris all the time).
I can´t say much about what people thought, but I ended up loving the Jaguar bag.
Best news ever! I'm so glad you loved carrying it and people noticed! It's an absolute work of art!
(glad you're all safe and sound) :hugs:

Brought Chloe C on my trip  found this amazing houndstooth Dolce & Gabbana coat in a vintage/pre-loved shop and bought it! A few bags that caught my attention while on the trip: vintage Chanel tote, YSL le 5 a 7 in yellow and Mulberry Bayswater tote. The Hermes 24/24 one is now on my wishlist! Didn’t know about this bag and loved how simple it is, much more simple closure then B or K. I tried it on, the shape reminds me a bit my favorite Celine Belt bag, and there is a top handle and shoulder strap on one side. The leather quality just can’t compare with other brands, so luxurious!

No bag to share this week but the Chanel WoC in yellow is the one that got away. I remember seeing again on Julia Berolzeihmer during her baby moon and telling myself how stupid I was to not want to spend so much on a WoC back when I first saw it. The Chanel prices nowadays are just a no go...!

Thank you! Coach used to make some adorable animal charms about 10 years ago.

The coat is gorgeous!

@afroken I'm putting this here instead of the Frrry thread because I don't want to derail that thread with my "play" piece.

You inspired me to make another popcorn pouch/ cube.

I saw an old skirt with a leather patch in a thrift store for $3. That price- low for even thrift store standards- is likely due to the odd combination of faded teal (laminated goat) leather patch against a tan microsuede skirt. I can't recall the last time I saw genuine leather combined with faux.

Anyway, I bought it and unpicked the leather patch to make a little popcorn pouch. This one is just for me because the leather is in a pretty distressed state and is full of holes from the original stitching on the skirt. I'll probably use it as a catch-all because I hate to see leather get wasted.

It really is one of my favourite designs. You've picked a great bag for your trip. I'm sure you'll love everything about it when you get Frrry's beauty.

Pics are of my sample quickly fashioned at 3am because I couldn't sleep.
This isn't a stitched pouch, just a mock up. The proportions are off (the bag isn't high enough when extended) because I was limited by the size of the patch. I unpicked the patch and roughly cut up the main body of the skirt. I used the goat leather for the outer and the tan microsuede for the lining. I wanted to see if I had enough usable material to make it a functional size.
Now that I know it can be done from those bits of the skirt, I'll take it all apart and do it again properly- clean up the edges, hand stitch the body, use a better quality zipper (this one is repurposed from the skirt but gets stuck).

Thanks for giving me a fun project. :flowers:
