2023 Resolution: Shopping my Own Bags and SLG Collection

TPF may earn a commission from merchant affiliate
links, including eBay, Amazon, and others

A long standing tradition in this thread is to remind ourselves of how wonderful our own collections are by showcasing them. We can see how far we have come, collection wise, and we reminded that we have all (or most of) what we need making it easier to shop our own closets.

• New theme weeks start each Sunday

• Don’t jump ahead but, if you miss a week, please do show your bags “late”.

• Show bags individually or in a group

• You do NOT have to wear the bags that week

• For added fun, show old pictures from previous years to demonstrate how you have curated it over time.

• This is completely voluntary. There is no pressure to post at any time.

So what are the showcases? In the Fall, we group our bags by makers! Feel free to show bags, small leather goods, or however it is easiest to organize!

Ha ha, it's hard for me to not let new coats sneak into the house too, but I really do not have space anymore unless I move some things out. Coats occupy lots of space.
We need to see a pic of your red coat! I love red coats.
I have a couple of vintage Ralph Lauren blazers that need shoulder pads removed. The shoulder pads are fine, but I just don't like the shape they give to the silhouette. However, I have zero seamstress skills, sadly, and will have to take them to a tailor.
Here it is:

I had to return the bag my dh bought me. It was lovely but when I was planning an outfit to wear with it. I put it on in front of the mirror. With in five minutes of it hanging on me my shoulder started to hurt. The strap was just too thin for my shoulder. It only had tissue in it, as I had not removed tags or anything yet. They didn't have anything else at the moment that was calling me. I was so annoyed with myself for not trying it on longer when we bought it. Do you ever still make mistakes when buying something?
What a shame! I'm sorry!

Of course I make mistakes while buying things. They Happen all the time especially when I am in a hurry.
For example the grey coat from the fleamarket had several moth holes I didn't notice before buying it. Well, it was cheap - as in under 10€- and darned spots don't bother me too much.

O.M.G. No bags this week!

I have no D&B and no Fendi (but wish(list) I did - especially a D&B Florentine, a Fendi First, some fab Peekaboo variation (as yet non-specific in my fantasy) and a vintage evening Spy from 2004.

I have Fendi fur though (but it's still in storage). It's shaved dark mink, but with a coloured modernist pattern on the lower half. One of my favourite things ever.

That Fendi's RTW in recent years was so full of 'Zuca' double-F so that Karl Lagerfeld could earn from every piece sold was more than annoying. I pray they phase all that out.

Did it have a horse on it? I think I bought 2 (perhaps Prada owned HL in mid-00s). Unfortunately I put them in a washing machine :facepalm:Happily, I still have my black suit AW03. I never really liked it after '06. I thought Do's designs were a bit tick-box and clumsy. You or I could have done better :winkiss: - let's see what he does for AW25.

Me too! I can't wait to see Gucci, word is from 'sources' it will be very minimalist.

There's also digital fashion week too *yawn*
Lol no horse!!!

I’m far more classic than you!!!

I think the shirt design was quite deconstructed as per his style, but I bought it for the beauty of the fabric-but you’re right..we Both coould have done better, as it wasn’t that hardwearing..although I loved the juxtaposition of pure white shirting and the strange cut(I think a hole in the back…although the collar was sharp.)

The SS24 show featured tailoring in black , white shirting, fuschia accents (although of course cannot account for the quality)..

I’m looking forward to the Milan shows, but most of all the Paris shows-then of course to January, both for the unattainable Haute Couture SS2024 shows, but also for the 2024 collections to start coming into the shops.

Interestingly, I follow the Premiere Vision fabrics and trend shows-it’s actually Autumn Winter 2024/25 which is supposed to see the return of women’s tailoring-although this winter it seems very evident.

I’m not sure why it’s here a year early , whether it’s a trickle or a trend-I’ve always loved tailoring ..I’d mentioned that in 2024/25 I’d been planning a new Savile Row suit myself.

Back to topic and Helmut Lang was showing tailoring for next summer-Ralph Lauren showed some-it will be interesting to see what happens in Milan.

Fendi fur is beautiful…in Paris shaved mink is vision rase..I’d love one from Fendi -a custom one.

When I stop buying jewellery I may order one, but at the moment I’m spending too much on jewellery to buy Fendi couture fur..

Bracelets have clasps, hinges, chains and are usually articulated. Bangles go over a hand without opening.
Right, and because of those clasps, most bracelets tend to sit closer to the wrist while bangles are a looser fit, because of being larger to allow for being able to slip over the wrist. So bangles slide back and forth across the wrist a little bit more as compared to bracelets. Overall, I love the look of bracelets more than bangles, although bangles are so easy to wear.
Stunning coat and color!

Tailors and dentists should never retire

I have been cutting my hair for as long as I can remember for want of a hairdresser that will do what I ask or won't take 4 hours. who has all afternoon to sit in the hairdressers? )no need to answer )
I've been cutting, and everything else-ing, my hair for so long. For a lovely time, I had a hair dresser I went to a couple of times a year, but I haven't seen her since covid. It does take hours, too! I can't trust the average hairdresser to, as you say, do what I ask. But also, they hurt me.

I'm going to be missing my old Dooney and Bourke this week. @whateve 's pictures has already started it. Not one of the bags I have now are as comfortable to carry as my D&B hobo. It's no longer with me, but a pic in remembrance.

I wore this bag to death, until the strap literally came apart on one end. Maybe I'll replace it one day. Look at how dark the handle had become!

I find now that I’m drawn to texture as well but only in small bags. I like velvet bags but never took the plunge? How’s the wear and tear?
The bag is only velvet on the front and tbh even though I love the bag, I rarely use it ( it's not so easy to match and the push clasp isn't that great). It looks good except near the clasp there is some wear.

I like that I am not the only one, but I am sorry about the holes .

I love love this. The velvet just adds depth to the pop of turquoise so much. Can definitely see this styled in winter with all black. So stylish you gotta carry her more
