2023 Resolution: Shopping my Own Bags and SLG Collection

A long standing tradition in this thread is to remind ourselves of how wonderful our own collections are by showcasing them. We can see how far we have come, collection wise, and we reminded that we have all (or most of) what we need making it easier to shop our own closets.

• New theme weeks start each Sunday

• Don’t jump ahead but, if you miss a week, please do show your bags “late”.

• Show bags individually or in a group

• You do NOT have to wear the bags that week

• For added fun, show old pictures from previous years to demonstrate how you have curated it over time.

• This is completely voluntary. There is no pressure to post at any time.

So what are the showcases? In the Fall, we group our bags by makers! Feel free to show bags, small leather goods, or however it is easiest to organize!

August 20 - Burberry, Celine

August 27 - Coach, Chanel

OMG, I love all the pets and bags pics. So cute.

I don’t have a pet, but I once went on a falcon lesson and forgot to take off my tpm. Another girl was wearing a dior book tote which I thought was more unusual, so I didn’t feel too out of place

also, not my dog, but I admired her aplomb with the scarf (I had the original owners permisson to take this pic)

Wow, what an awesome experience this must have been. Great pics!
Also, love how the dog is posing with the scarf!

Inspired by all the talk about pets, I dug out my old copy of Cat Stories by James Herriot, and settled down with a cup of tea. So many heartwarming tales in this lovely little book, which is a very easy read, but perhaps my favorite story might be the one of Oscar the cat who loved gatherings and get-togethers. Beautifully written, and brought a lump to my throat. I only have my cup of tea here, but I am raising a toast to all the wonderful veterinary doctors like James Herriot, who help heal and nurse our precious, furry friends back to good health.
If I was going to a get-together like Oscar, I would probably carry a smaller bag like my wallet on chain, so I pictured it here.

Please don´t scrutinize it too much... DH already did (without telling me what exactly does not match his standards) taking all the joy out of the project for me.
There´s a box inside the bag for better visibility. The rectangular blue shape is the separate pouch. It´s just a simple plain pouch with a nice zip and a matching cotton lining.

The lettering is actually straight, but when the bag moves it moves too...

You did a fantastic job! I like that you included a pouch too.

That´s a very poetic photo!

You did a wonderful job! I know the lettering must have taken forever.
Thank you so much! The lettering took me four hours... I used the time between taking my son to school and fetching him home. I was so nervous to get it halfway right.
As I didn´t have any black raffia I used the random wider raffia strips they had used to tie the yarn strands together, painted them black with fabric paint and cut them to the right width. The amount I got was barely sufficient. There were only tiny bits left when I was done.

You're too hard on yourself! It looks wonderful!
Your handmade and repaired gifts are priceless. They far outshine anything from a shop! :hugs:
Thank you very much!
I think my older daughter appreciates that I made an effort instead of buying a random dupe from H&M or Zara. She also said she thinks the quality is so much better than what she saw in the shops.
My older DS appreciated the homemade personal t-shirt blanket for his birthday too. My younger DD on the other hand hates everything handmade/ used/ repaired. It´s shiny and new or cash for her.
