2022 in review:
Health wise, this year has been challenging.
January 2022 - VintageMama has Covid
Feb 2022 - Max went over the rainbow bridge.
March-May - VintageMama had a massive heart attack. After coming out of the hospital, needed to relearn how to walk and go to the bathroom.
August - I have bronchitis
October-December - The Knight has medical problems. Getting the right medication is a challenge.
December - Covid for everyone! Over 3 weeks with symptoms.
Bags In: 3, one of which doesn’t count
(I replaced my knitting bag with one of better quality and in better shape)
Bags out: 7, one of which was replaced by the bag that doesn’t count. I also sold 4 accessories, as well as sending two boxes to Thredup. Donated 500 items.
Accessories in: 2 pieces of jewelry, one of which I’ve been looking for for roughly 15 years.
As for the goals that I listed back at the beginning of the thread:
Not going to lie, my performance on this one was… less than ideal. Wrong kind of insurance, sick family, getting sick myself. Room for improvement.
In 2021, my goal was to eliminate 2021 items from my house. As a part of that, I sold over 200 items between Facebook groups, posh and eBay. I donated or gifted another 1900 items. This year, I wanted more health and experiences and less stress. I did go back to selling things around August as I uncovered them, but it’s closer to 20 items.
I feel guilty about donating to big box thrifts, because I know it’s not the most efficient downstream for stuff. On the other hand, I also have a father who passed away and a mother in poor health who has moved in with me. So I have So Much Stuff.
Decades of collectibles and costume jewelry and books and art and holiday ornaments. I’ve been trying to donate to appropriate groups (donating art supplies to a charity that distributes art supplies to teachers, vs goodwill), or RAOK or sell to people who actually want stuff. But it’s a major balancing act between my sanity and my conscience.
So, we’ll call this one a partial success.

Finally, an unmitigated triumph. I restored one Judith Leiber bag, I sold two Hermes bags in need of restoration, and I donated my old LV Noe knitting bag, and replaced it with an Hermes brown Togo GM market bag.
Another success. I did do a big overhaul of my day clothes, and eliminated a lot. Didn’t get to the specialty stuff, but considering the fact I didn’t really have a big window of “I and my family are all healthy” at all this year, I did well and I’m claiming the W.
