Portable device chargers for all 3 dudes in my life, voice changer and sour candy for the 13 year old, as well as baseball stress ball, spiro-spiral doohickey . For 15 year old map where you rub off the foil coating on the countries you've visited, suduiko cube game, stress ball football. and toilet basketball game for both.

These won't all fit in their stockings but at least I've crossed this off my list!

Of course pearls work. Very grande dame.

I had a black tie party on Friday. I wore this pearl necklace (with white zircon) which my parents gave me to celebrate a work promotion last year. My parents colluded with Mr Dawn to have the necklace made to match with a pair of statement earrings he gave me years ago. I didn’t want to wear the huge earrings so I wore small floral diamond cluster earrings instead, which (kind of) matched okay.
Wow... this is gorgeous!

What are your spend goals?

I’ve been lusting over a Loewe woven hammock since I saw a runway release in September. It’s a runway piece so I know it’ll probably cost me a fortune. But I really like the hammock that I have and I already decided that this will be my next Loewe.

Plus, I have 3 trips abroad next year, not counting the domestic ones.

I actually really hope to buy only one bag next year, but I’ll see if that’s possible. Probably I’ll give myself some room and make it two.

And the new place is ready to move in. I’m just too lazy to pack and unpack and some other stuff. I wish I could magically wink my eyes and all the stuff will magically move themselves to the new place. They don’t have to go into its place. I can do that. But packing alone is so discouraging. And this is just the book shelf alone. I figure I may need some new furniture, too. [emoji848]

Sapphires would be gorgeous with it, but no... I don’t have anything like that, other than a pair of diamond studs that belonged to The Hubster’s grandmother. I hadn’t even thought about jewelry! Goodness! Would pearls work? I’ve got pearl earrings and a choker. :panic:

Diamond will do. It goes with that lucite handle. But to wear the necklace or not will depends on your neckline and the dress.

Do you mind costume jewelry? Those works, too. They have lots of fake diamond set that looks nice and classy enough for formal event.

Oh, I have a lot of jewelry that isn't precious stones! I like necklaces with interesting semi-precious stones. I also like vintage necklaces. I have a few marcasite pieces from perhaps the 1920s that are lovely. And then I have some very nice rhinestone pins from the 1940s and 1950s that I used to wear on the lapels of my business suits (to make them look a bit less like "uniforms"), though I'm not sure a pin would be right for a long dress.

You're exactly right that it will all depend on the neckline of the dress, and also whether the fabric of the dress has enough going on (if it's a textured silk, for example) that a necklace would make it look too busy. Or if it's a jacket and a skirt, instead of a one-piece dress, and therefore it already has buttons for interest.

I joined this thread way back on page 9..:amuse: and ever since then I just lurked about..my resolution was to refrain from buying unnecessary bags and if I have the urge to buy , limit myself to just 2 bags. I'm happy to report that i manage to follow through on that resolution.. two bags in and sold 1 bag. Selling that 1 bag was such a surprise for me since I have never sold anything before.. I also binned 1 bag that is beyond salvaging/repairing..so all in all a good handbag year for me..:flowers:
Congratulations on your good handbag year! Please share the bags you bought.

2018 Goals Review

This is the first year I hit all my goals. Whoop! :yahoo:

1. Have a 100% success rate on purchases

Well, I didn’t purchase anything til the last 15 days of the year. LOL! Mr. S bought 2 bags for me and I don’t see them going a-ny-where. So, I have to say he met this goal too.

2. Sell 7 bags: 4 purgatory, 3 collection

I sold / donated 16 bags!!! :faint: I never would have thought I’d clear out so many. Even at the start of the year I was blind to what needed to go. But, it feels great!

3. Buy no more than 5 bags

I only bought 1 bag. Yay! Again, this goal was made a little easier by getting two bags as gifts. Buuuuuut, I’ve received bags before and still went crazy shopping. :-s So, I’m proud of myself for finally shopping my closet.

2019 Goals
1. 100% success rate on purchases

This will be a forever goal for me

2. Sell up to 2 bags

I want to replace the Proenza Schouler bags. So, since this sell goal is contingent on buying, I’m wording it as “up to”. It won’t be failure unless I buy PS replacements and don’t sell.

3. Buy no more than 4 bags and 1 SLG

Some options:
  • (the infamous) Black tote
  • 1 - 2 work bags - may be another WOC if the Dior works out.
  • 1 - 2 PS replacements - unless logomania dies down I’ll never find these
  • Possible fun bag - I loooooove the two bags Mr. S bought me this year. I NEVER would have bought them. So, I’m opening myself up to indulging myself if something fun and frivolous comes along.
Fabulous achievement on all of your 2018 goals! Good luck to you for an outstanding 2019. I have enjoyed your conversations on goals, thought process on purchases/departures and overall handbag collection management/maintenance. Happy holidays! :drinks:

Phew!!! I still have a shot at my life of larceny. One of these days @Iamminda and I will pull off our Bonnie & Clyde :coolio: @ksuromax will be our look out, and we will rotate the spoils across three continents :drinks::giggle:
I'm in!! :woot:
Well it’s a lovely avatar (from 1 of your fab vacations-?) But hey, since you know my memory is AWFUL, wasn’t it you & me vs Ksuro & iamminda? :lol:Or maybe it was me & IM vs you & Ksuro? Hmmm:rolleyes:
as long as i am in the B&C duo i am ok with that! :graucho:
If you don’t remember, then let’s just say I get all of them . Sounds good?
:nono:

It was actually @bellebellebelle19 who brought up about the dupes. Honestly, I'ven't been buying any new shoes straight from the shop for ages. Most of them are pre-loved in brand new condition 50-80% off original prices... If I were you, I'd go for cheaper option too. Schutz has good quality-price ratio like Hush Puppies. Downsizing 16 bags is a quite achievement. Congrats!
If I could find preloved new premier designer shoes at 50-80% off, my closet would burst! Where are you finding these amazing bargains!?!
I’d never heard of Schutz. But these boots are awesome. Is Hush Puppies actually still around???
Congratulations on your good handbag year! Please share the bags you bought.
