We're all getting excited and busy for the upcoming holiday season so I thought I would start a new thread now and we can enjoy popping in when we can and share our 2015 resolutions.

I think our lovely group had a wonderful 2014 and we're all going to go out with a bang! Please try to finish of the year in the old thread, and post your 2015 resolutions here. I know some of us have already given some thought to them and can't wait to share with everyone.

This was my 2014 resolution - "My 2014, slightly modified resolution, is to continue to use the bags and wallets in my collection, downsize my collection (hope to get down to ~10 wallets, ~25 bags), and only purchase my Mon Monogram."

And what happened? - I didn't buy a single bag for 6 months and then in a span of approximately 30-45 days, I purchased 11 =S ... HOWEVER, every single bag that I purchased became a much used bag and were all found at a great deal. A number of them fulfilled wardrobe staples that I was missing and I am really happy with all my purchases. While I did sell a few bags, I did not manage to reach goal to own ~25 bags - that's OK as long as they were all used, which all have been except for ~10. I will be paying close attention to those that were not used in 2014 and see what happens to them in 2015.

Despite purchasing my LV Epi indigo Sarah early in the year (bought it in Hawaii where prices were cheaper and less tax), I also sold a couple of wallets and unbeknownst, DID achieve my goal to own ~10 wallets - excluding a travel wallet and a gift from DH (that is going into semi-retirement), I own EXACTLY 10 wallets and have used all of them this year except for 1. If I don't use this one in 2015, I will be finding a new home for it.

My 2015 resolution - to continue to use and enjoy my current collection, to not exceed the current number of wallets I have, and to not exceed the number of bags I have and to continue to let go of any more bags that I find are not working for me. I may re-evaluate my clutches and see what can be done there - I might let a lot of them go and focus on having just a few that would suit all my possible clutch needs. I'm happy with what I have and have used all of them at some point or another, but feel that I can consolidate my collection into a more well-rounded bunch.

I can't wait to hear from the rest of you, old and new members! To a great New Year! :drinks:

Here!!

I didn't have a defined resolution for 2014, but I have made progress in shopping my closet by eliminating items I didn't like.

So for 2015-

-I want to enjoy everything I have. This means actually using everything or decide if it's worth keeping

-Rotate bags more frequently (2 weeks instead of 3)

-Use everything or sell items before I replace.

-Lower cost per wear even more

-Use my collection of keychains. I plan to switch weekly. (Expect tons of pictures!)

-Go one full quarter without buying an SLG or handbag. I plan to do this in the first quarter of 2015. Maybe even do two quarters! Haha.

I am planning a Mon Mono Speedy B 25.

I'm in!!

2014 resolutions: I actually didn't have any - I think resolutions by their nature come out of wanting to make a change and since I generally acquire bags in a fairly considered fashion I was happy to wait and see where 2014 took me.

What happened: Well, quite without meaning too, I had quite a busy bag year!!

Let me tell you the stories:

1. Anya Hindmarch Albion - v early in the year (*I actually forgot to include this in another thread - ooops) as a structured work tote that could v comfortably fit in A4 size documents/MacBook Air etc. It worked really well and I have had plenty of use with it.

However, I then received a discount invite from Matches and a lovely cream/ivory Chloe Paraty had already caught my eye. Ivory leather is so decadent and the bag was truly appealing. The discount seemed a match made in heaven.

2. Chloe Ivory/Cream Paraty - this was around mid-year (I think). I was completely BLOWN AWAY by how user friendly this bag is. It's under the radar but the shape is absolutely gorgeous, modern and fresh, it's a great size for every day and it also transitions with the shoulder strap and goes with virtually every outfit.

So now my eye was drawn to the same bag in black...after all if the ivory version was so appealing and I got so much use out of it, imagine the same bag in ever-practical black leather...:thinkin:

3. Chloe Black Paraty - so this was around August/Sept I think. Came. Loved. Used insanely often. Took overseas with shoulder strap (pics on my blog). Loved even more.

Now entirely separate to the hitherto unthought-of Paraty (which I had never even considered before spying the ivory one on Matches when it first hit the website), there was a separate bag matter brewing in 2014. For Christmas 2013, I was fortunate enough to receive a Chanel classic M/L double flap in beige clair caviar with SHW. A stunning bag in every respect and sentimentally, my first Chanel

Chanel aficionados will know the dilemma: once you have the beige for day/summer, how tempting the black becomes for evening/winter. My love for black leather/GHW combos is well documented. I was definitely thinking of buying this bag when I went overseas in November.

The price increases locally made me die a little on the inside and then the falling Aussie dollar kind of nixed the sense of making an overseas purchase. So instead I asked around the lovely TPF ladies on the Chanel subforum and explored pre-loved. As luck would have it, there was a lovely authentic re-seller (www.mytimelessluxuries.com) who had exactly the bag my heart desired in mint condition...

4. Chanel M/L classic double flap black caviar GHW - this was also around September. Came. Loved. Used for every social occasion since then. Obsessed. Take out of wardrobe sometimes to caress and sniff the leather when DF isn't in the house...

Along similar lines to this acquisition i.e. we all have bags we aspire to even though they may take years to get there - usually classic styles or iconic pieces...

5. Hermes Dogon Combination wallet in gold togo - this was around the middle of the year. Classic. Have yearned for years. So satisfying to take the plunge ahead of any more price increases :cray: It fits the new iPhone 6 (small model) inside it. Most amazingly useful wallet ever.

As I was previously using an LV SC Cobalt clutch as my wallet, this addition takes my official wallet collection to 1. :D

2015 resolutions: No new bag purchases intended - I am well and truly content with my bag collection. I've acquired a rounded selection of classics with some more modern/fresh under the radar pieces with a great variety in colours/styles to suit all occasions. I've loved carrying whatever bag I have every single day. I'm looking forward to continuing that way in 2015

I'm looking forward to seeing everyone else's resolutions going forward

Wow, u have a beautiful collection! And thank you for sharing the stories behind them, it's what makes our bags special to us :) can't wait to see your beautiful bags here on rotation!

Hello everybody!

First of all I must confess I'm so NO good in resolutions. Every time I make a resoltuion, it is quite sure, that I will brake it very soon. :D

Therefore I had no resolution for 2014. But even without one I behaved very good regarding handbags and slgs. As I had a bigger fund to spend for something frivolous (long story) I decided to finally buy my HG. In June I bought a Mulberry Alexa in pickle green. It was on sale and so I purchased shortly after that a Mulberry zip around wallet in oak. Later this year (still some money left) I added a pouch from Bottega Veneta (rosa shock). Wallet and pouch get used every single day - thankfully my love/addiction for handbags does not include slgs. I own only one wallet or one pouch at the time, don't care if they match and use them until they fall apart.
During my holidays in Italy in September I collected two more handbags. They are made in Tuscany by a small brand and extremly inspired by Mulberry Bayswater. I like them very much, good quality and very practical.

My resolution for 2015: Some months ago I read an article about a guy, who tried for a whole year to purchase nothing at all (apart from food and other necessaries). This was a little bit inspiring for me. My closet is FULL. Sometimes I'm quite surprised, that it does not explode because of all the clothes and bags I stuff into it. Well, I know, I won't be able to buy nothing at all for a whole year, as there are sales and other temptations. But at least I want to try to think thrice before buying. I want to use the clothes/bags, that I already own and I want to make only replacement purchases for old/broken things. It's kind of an experiment and I would like to test myself and my shopping habits a bit.
Regarding bags - I think, I own 20-30 at the moment - I really want to buy no bag at all. If I do succeed, I want to reward myself. Perhaps with a full-price Mulberry or Bottega Veneta, or with some jewellery, or with a long holiday in England or Scotland. I tend to do the last one - I could include the outlets and get a Mulberry at lower price. ;)

I'm very exited to be on your boat in 2015! I'm looking forward to see a lot of nice bags, to read very helpful reviews and to share the fun and joy of (mindful) shopping.
Greetings, :flowers:
Milla

To be honest I can not recollect what last years resolution was. I hoping now that it is in the beginning of the thread I can go back and look at it. I know I wanted to organize my closet and get rid of a lot of unused bags. I sold or gave away over 25 bags and 5 slgs. I also purchased quite a few bags but still less then half of what I got rid of. I also discovered for me I needed to have some less expensive bags that I can take to kids sporting events as I just was not comfortable bringing my better bags there. Which I bought and actually like quite a bit. I consider myself an equal opportunity bag lover.
Now for 2015 I want to keep my closet as neat as it is now. I have a limited amount of space so I can not get more bags then I have space for. Which means when the slots are full I can not buy anything unless I get rid of something and no squishing them in.

My 2014 Resolution: This was really an unwritten one. I wanted to slow down in bag buying since 2013 was just a crazy year in terms of building up my Rebecca Minkoff collection plus adding some luxe designer bags.

What happened: Relative to 2013, I indeed slowed down. I tried counting in my head how many bags I got in 2014, likely 17 or so. But in fairness, I sold probably more than that. But in terms of money value, I think my acquisition far exceeded my sale, unless I count my Balenciaga City which is on layaway with a buyer. But I really don't want to count since the reason I'm selling it is to replace it with a Velo.

2015 Resolution: I know I cannot do a zero-bag purchase year, so I'll try to be realistic. I will only buy 1 or 2 Massaccesi bag(s) plus 1 premier designer bag - options are Chloe Paraty, Givenchy Nightingale or Antigona, Mulberry Bayswater or a Marc Jacobs 1984 or Metropolitan. I'm still deciding if I will get the Balenciaga Velo after all. No more RMs for a while. I hope to further downsize my RM collection (believe me it's so hard!!).

Oh I hope I can do good on my resolution! Sometimes I wonder whether it is the act of choosing and then buying the bag to which I am addicted or if it is really the bag.

I've been ruthlessly monitoring my bag collection in 2014 to ensure that everything is worn. Now those that I don't reach for that often are listed.

In 2015, I will probably only make 2 bag purchases, a Massaccesi Selene and an Aphrodite. I have enough SLGs to keep me going. My cupboards are bursting and I know that I have enough clothes etc to keep me going for ages. I just need to take a fresh look at what I have and shake up my outfit combinations.

My promise for 2014 was to purchase only 4 items and I went over it but honestly don't feel (too) bad. I purged about 30 pieces and bought items which work for me better. Like cheaper bags which can be taken out with kids. Yes, there where also 2 MJ bags which need to come out more next year.
I had long break in bag shopping which makes me proud, saved the money and enjoyed Black Friday offers in full :)
As for next year, I don't have any special plans/wishes yet. There are few bags which I like but nothing is must have.

This was a crazy year for me. During my maternity leave, I got rid of two huge bags of clothes and 90% of my handbags. I still have lots more clothes to purge (and replace with better fitting clothes) but I bought a ton of bags. I could have bought almost any premium bag of my choice with the money I spent on bags this year.

So..for 2015 my goal is to use what I have and primarily shop from my closet. I want to evaluate how everything works for me and focus on building a better wardrobe. I will be buying a few more bags--like 2-6--but they will be well researched and planned purchases to add to my collection. I'm thinking about a Massacessi and one premium bag for my birthday in July for starters. There's a few other holes I'd like to fill as well, like a red leather bag, but I want to be certain I'll love it 10-20 years from now.

My resolutions are small:

-Use every bag in my collection, including the clutches and small leather goods, at least once.

-Get rid of anything that I don't enjoy using once I have really tried it out.

-Buy less, and save for something that is not only functional but that I really love. I now have plenty of variety in my collection. I also have many bags that are more functional than anything, and I think that is the way my purse tastes run (because I don't like the hassle of changing bags often), but I think this year I want something that is both useful and stunning, not just "I like it okay."

-Only one wallet purchase allowed.

-Stay under budget!

Wow, I love reading everyone's resolutions and what happened in 2014. From last year, it sounds like we've all made a lot of progress or know what we would like to focus on in 2015. Can't wait to see all the beautiful bags from our closets, and also the new ones that people are looking to get. While I'm not looking to get anything next year, if I stumble across a classic black bag for every day use, I think I will be getting that as that seems to be the one thing I'm missing in my wardrobe. I have a few black bags but none of them I would use as a heavy duty, wear and tear bag.

This is also missing from my closet. I have many different colors but almost no black or brown bags.

If I remember correctly, I didn't make a resolution for 2014. But since I went crazy with bag buying this year, maybe that's just wishful thinking on my part. For 2015, I don't want a repeat of this year. But to say I resolve to buy none is just setting me up for failure. I love all of my bags so I'm not in the getting rid of mode either. *sigh* I guess just not to repeat this year. I think I bought about 15 bags total. I know! I resolve not to buy more than one per quarter. So that means if I buy one on New Year's Day like I did in 2014, I have to wait until April at least before I can buy another. That will also show if I really want the bag that badly. Okay, I'm in for 2015.
