2014 resolution - shopping from my own bag and wallet collection. Any one else? 2

2014 was an interesting year for me in terms of revamping my closet. I became a mommy and took a break from all spending including no handbag (except for a MbMJ diaper bag) for 9 months. Probably the longest I've gone without buying a new bag in many years! However, once I returned to work and settled into my new role, my bag buying impulse came back in full force. I think I was making up for lost time. So my final count for 2014 is 16. Yikes! This year I also reevaluated my current collection and gave away or sold 11 bags. Even though my goal initially was to pare down the amount of stuff I had, I guess coming up +5 is not so bad?? At least, that's what I tell myself! My goal for 2015 is to finish putting my closet into the StyleBook app and reevaluate everything (not just handbags). The good thing about the app is that it allows me to see all the duplicates I have so I can get rid of the ones I don't really love. But it also allows me to see the holes in my wardrobe which leads to more buying! Anyway, I hope to be better overall next year. HAPPY NEW YEAR, ladies!

Congrats on being a new mom! I think that just letting go of 11 bags is an awesome job! It's difficult just to let go of bags - I've only been able to start letting go of bags just a few years ago and it's never as substantial as 11, so great job! Good luck on finishing Stylebook, it's helped me a lot. Just seeing my numbers is enough to stop me from buying things haha.

Not bad, but I didn't do as well as I had hoped with my bags. I do have a few more bags that need to be purged. I feel like the bags that I added this year were well thought out choices that got used regularly. And that is really my ultimate goal- to have a manageable number of bags that I love and get used on a regular basis.

Happy New Year cupcakegirl!!! I can't believe 2014 is over, wow! I managed to find where I had written all my sellings and purchases and my final count this year is 11 bags in, 3 bags out, 2 wallets out, 2 wallets in, and 1 wristlet in. I'd say that my success this year was not buying a bag on a regular basis - while I ended up with 11 in, I only made these purchases in a span of approx. a month (which may not be that good... haha) and didn't buy a bag for 11 months.

You can do it! saving for my HG bags totally had me ignoring the contemporary brand sales. It was hard to ignore a really really good sale but seeing my orange box made it worth it.

As for me I am 1 bag in and 0 out. Which is fine with me.


I can't remember if I mentioned this before but I am counting my new borough to my allowed in tally for 2015. So I am now only allowed up to 2 bags next year. I can do this!! haha. I am actually trying to talk myself into saving up for a big purchase this year. I try to do this every year but the contemporary bags or a great sale always get me in the end so I will see how it goes..... I am horrible at saving. I guess maybe that should be my other resolution this year. Learn to save for something you really want. This is going to be tough......

I would like to save up also for something premier (maybe the LV zcp, finally) but I find that when I save up, I usually don't want to spend the money haha.

Here are the two new slgs. One is a lodis wallet from my brother and the other is sort of gift from dh. It was a gift we bought for someone else but that didn't work out, so rather then giving it to someone else dh said to keep it because he knew I liked it.

These look great! I like that coach wristlet, I like that it has 2 pouches to separate things - been eyeing that myself but nope, have too many, must not!

BTW thank you all for the NF condolences, lesson learned, LVs don't belong in the overhead compartment of an airplane. The scratches aren't too deep thankfully & I've been doing the massage techniques you all suggested. The scratches are on one leaf of each of the handles, here's my hot stamped leaf....

To transfer between devices you can select the items (edit, select items) then select the upload (square with arrow). Pick share over wifi. It will then ask you to pick a device. On the accepting device, click wifi accept and they should find each other and transfer items.

good to know! Can you transfer the calendar as well? Will the cost per wear be transfered also, do you know?

Now that it's New Year's Eve where I am, I can already make my official count for December - 4 ins and 6 outs (though 3 are still with me since sales were on layaway)! I said in November that those were going to be my last purchases, but here I was in December...probably encouraged by my sales too.

I'm afraid to do an actual bag count of what remains in my collection since it will still be a big number I'm guessing, plus the new ones that came in. Will probably do the count later on.

I hope 2015 will be a more meaningful bag purchase year for me.

As a reflection of 2014, I definitely need to uphold my bans next year. The quarterly no shopping, sticking to my limitations in terms of the quantity I am buying. I also want to stick to the brands I love or to items I know I'll love. I keep straying to other things and I end up not loving it after.

Hopefully this will cut back on my buying and returning, which also means a limitation on shopping at places like the rack that have a buy now think later approach.

I went shopping yesterday at Selfridges for some clothes. Can't wait to share my haul.

And to get my year total I gotta look through part 1 of the thread and find my monthly tally lol. Gotta go figure how to do that.


Spending NYE in the hotel. Too chicken to be out in the cold, haha. I usually fall asleep until 1130PM then wake up for midnight and go back to bed. Haha.

Tonight about a dozen of my friends are going to see a band for NYE. Nobody famous, just a fun local option! Low cover charge, complimentary champagne, lots of dancing 😊

Happy new year! Got one in under the wire - my last bag of 2014 delivered today. My new everyday workhorse - the MZ Wallace Kate in Black Bedford. I carry my laptop everyday with my new job, plus I travel a lot, so this bag is perfect to serve as a laptop bag and purse combo. I love it!! Plus, I can take the laptop out and use it on the weekend without it looking like unwieldy luggage - it slouches nicely. Awesome bag to close out the year - I'll be using this one a lot in 2015.

Plus...it provides a perfect home for my Coach Snoopy luggage tag. 😉

My resolution for 2015 is to spend less time on tpf (already started that resolution over the past couple of weeks). While I love tpf - and especially this thread - it all just generates too much enabling and craving. I'll still lurk from time to time but need to step away for a bit for the sake of my bank account and my closet!!

Thank you all for the sweet compliments on the Pashli. I can't wait to wear it.

Got a great price on the bag and so it goes. It was my Fendi spy. I can't justify having it if I forgot about it for so long. I do love it but it needs a home where it can be used more.

Tally this month:

2 bags in (Pashli and the Stam - will talk about this shortly). 1 bag out (spy). 1 SLG in (flora pouch).

This year? Lots of bags in, 6-7 out. This year was all about refining my collection and making a collection that will last for years to come.

As for the Stam, it wasn't in the worst condition, just needed some TLC. Like there was some paint specks so I just used some acrylic paint to dab over and conditioned it. I added new feet since it lost its feet. I just need to get some brass cleaner to make the hardware shine. I'll share in the new thread. At the moment it is soaking up all the leather conditioner and is already shiny. She will be my new Mary poppins bag.

Thank you again ladies for such a fun year of funny, observant, and bag-candy posts. It's been such a pleasure to get to see your beautiful collections and I learned so much from each and every one of you. May 2015 bring us all more happy bag moments of peace. .
