How much are the taxes in the US for a crocodile Birkin? Is it a certain set percentage of the item, eg. say 10%, or is this variable across the country?
Tax varies by city and state...for example, tax rates are different at H BH and H SCP...approximately 1 hour apart, same state, but different cities...
It varies by state. Some states like NYC have higher taxes while other places have no sales taxes at all.
However, my understanding is that if the boutique is shipping to another state that has an H boutique (company-owned vs. franchise), you will be charged tax equivalent to that of the state where it is being delivered to. Hope this helps!
Oh I see. Wow, complicated, lol! Thanks gals! So, hmm.. for the states that tax, what would be the average or is it too hard to give an average coz it can be wildly different?
Having lived in about 10-12 states, I'd say the average range is from 5-9%. Most of California, at least urban areas, is around 8-8.5%. I managed to find a table online that lists them all by state, but this wouldn't consider any county/city taxes: http://www.taxadmin.org/FTA/rate/sales.html.
