10 motif vs 20 motif

Hi! I like the 2 * 10 motifs if they are identical in color ( two rose gold alhambra necklaces or 2 guilloche) ... very flexible to wear both as a single strand or if you double it, it looks formal and elevates any look.

I am perpetually late and recently I just “grab and go” my jewelry especially working now from home... for this reason I wear 20 motif.
Makes me feel elegant but keeping it casual still.

This necklace is the 20 and is very versatile ...hope this helps and good luck!

I just got a 10 and I love. But for those who have a 10 already, did any of you size it to make it a bit shorter ? Mine seems long on me. Not sure if it’s a thing
Yes it is possible and I’ve confirmed with my SA. I have thought to do this too by a link or two just so it sits in the right spot on my neck, but I have not yet done so. If you only need under an inch or so another thing you can do is twist the necklace just a little (like those who do this to the Alhambra five motif bracelets to make it shorter but don’t want to take out links) and then clip it on and the length will be shorter to your desired length. Note you have to twist it first and then clip it otherwise it just unravels. Not ideal but in the interim it might see you through. Another option I’ve done is clip it just before the last motif and let the last motif dangle at the back of the neck. I’m less keen to this method - I’m always concerned to snag it and it doesn’t feel as secure to me. Just some ideas...

i actually like this one-motif dangling because it turns a 10 motif into a choker and i like the little "charm" hanging off
in the back.

So I ended up going for 10 motif guilloche. Really spent so long to come up with the decision- tried on so many of 10 and 20 motif in different stones and etc. In the end, I liked the look of 10 motif guilloche and 10 motif MOP linked together as 20 motif while I can still wear them separately as 10 motif too. I got guilloche one for now as my SA said guilloche ones are more difficult to come by than MOP ones. I guess my next piece will have to be 10 motif MOP. One after that would be TE 10 motif which was beautifully elegant. Considering that I was leaning more towards 20 motif initially, I am very surprised that I ended up really liking 10 motif as I tried on more different necklaces over and over again.
One day, I would love to get 20 motif guilloche/pave alternating one as that is definitely my favourite 20 motif out of all others I have tried on so far-
girl can dream, right? Hahaha

@J_love_Chanel, congratulations! the ten looks beautiful on you! I’m curious though what your thought process was when you changed your mind form the 20 to the ten. I thought, reading all the posts below, that you were leaning 20. .
The reason for my curiosity is, I also thought the ten made my face look rounder or wider and the twenty was a leaner look. (however, I ultimately decided that vintage size was too small for me ans I ended up with the six motif magic as my first necklace) Did you try on the six motif? It doesn’t get as much love on TPF, but I think its flattering and in GMOP can be easily styled for everyday (or at least what passes for everyday in my imagination :D

I have a 20 and wear it casual, with a top and skinny jeans. To me, a 20 is a much more swingy and carefree casual look than a 10 being so close to the face. I also think a 20 gives a long lean look.

Congratulations! It's a beautiful piece. And it will be beautiful with MOP as well. It is worth taking your time and trying all options. Sometimes things we don't expect to impress us actually surprise us.

Thank you! Yes, I was definitely so sure that I want 20 to begin with. As I do with all my big purchases, I went back to store several times as I wanted to be absolutely certain with my purchase (it was between 20 motif in MOP and TE).
Then during my most recent visit to try on those two again, my SA showed me 10 guilloche, 10 MOP, and 10 TE. After playing around with these three, I just fell in love with the look of guilloche and MOP together. Also liked the idea of having some versatility- could wear them on its own, can wear as 20 linking them together and I could also connect my 5 motif guilloche with 10 to make it a longer necklace. Of course, I don’t have 10 MOP yet but that is definitely my next purchase.
I guess it also helped to have my friend who is always brutally honest at the store with me to give honest opinion.
Did I still feel like 10 motif makes my face rounder than 20? Not this time. I guess it’s also to do with what I was wearing at the time of trying these on. I was wearing turtleneck when I first tried on 10 which definitely made my face look rounder but with just normal round neck top, it had a different look. Hope this helps ^_^
With regards to 6 motif, I have never tried on. Maybe I ought to try it in one day. I have seen your photo and it looks gorgeous on you!

Your set look stunning! I am very tempted to get earrings now to match except I will have to pierce one ear again as right side had closed up after not wearing earrings for few years which is the main reason why I have never looked into earrings as I dread the idea of piercing- so scared of needles LOL.

Thank you! Definitely worth taking time to be certain. As I get older, I now tend to take time before purchasing things not like my younger days when I had few impulse buys which I ended up regretting^_^
