Well on my college campus I mostly see Longchamp and Vera Bradley, and occasionally Coach. There are a few people with Louis Vuitton and a few with Gucci, but the rest have non-brand name bags (or ones I don't recognize).
I think the giraffe-print bag is some form of "Prada"... maybe the girls over on the Prada thread can verify!
Most oft seen bags:
1. LV in many forms, but mostly the Neverfull and Speedy
2. Gucci
3. Coach -canvas ones. I think the more subtle leather Coaches are nicer but they seem rather rare!
4. No name bags, some are rather cute though
5. Lesportsac
One question: there seem to be a lot of fake-spotters around. How could you tell they were replicas just by looking at them on a passerby?
For the more common LV styles like the Speedy, usually I can spot a fake because the dimensions are "off" or the handles are different from authentic. The ladies on the Authenticate this LV thread are the real experts, though.
1 - A four way tie for #1 (both real and fake): LV monogram or damier, Coach signature, Dooney signature, Various Zebra prints
2 - Chanel totes
3 - Miscellaneous pvc bags
4 - Vera Bradley
5 - Coach Leather
6 - Gucci
7 - Dooney Leather or Suede
8 - Bags with Ed Hardy tattoo designs (this seems to be a growing fad)
9 - Longchamp
10 - LAMB
11 - Betsey Johnson
12 - Michael Kors
Brands I see every now and then:
Ferragamo
Furla
LV Suhali
Longchamp
H Birkin
Bottega Veneta
Balenciaga
Tumi
Bags I NEVER see:
Rebecca Minkoff
Lambertson Truex
LV Nomade
Nancy Gonzalez
Valextra
Valentino
Hermes bags other than Birkin
Zac Posen
Dooney Alto
Bvlgari
Cartier
I could go on...
Update :went to the U.S (california and illinois)and the bags i saw the most ( branded) :
