Comments: thank you!

I can't confirm or deny authenticity of this five-year old bag. I will venture to say that the pictures of the handles appear to be in line with my own Clemence Picotin, but the others are not clear enough. But I'd like to point out that the seller is incorrect - GM is not the largest size of the Picotin. The TGM is.

^^McLoverly, are we sure these are photos of the same bag in the auction? Those were admittedly poor quality but the bag in the auction looked like it might have more wear on it than the one in the photos here. Not that these are great quality photos, either. The hardware on the feet doesn't even look gold on my monitor. The first photo (above) doesn't immediately read "boxcalf" to me, either. It may all be due to the quality of the photos, but I am not comfortable enough with what's been provided. I guess all I am saying is I need the standard set of photos, in good resolution.

I am so sorry for the trouble. I should have posted before getting caught-up in the auction. Your wisdom has saved me from many bad purchases. The price we agreed on was $5800 inclusive of shipping and insurance. The seller says that if I am not comfortable I am not obligated to proceed. Shall I pass? I am one to honor an agreement so I am torn. Provided the bag is authentic, I do like it.

Thank you all again!

My fisrt impression was that the bag was athentic , but condition not really obvious from the pictures in the auction.

The additional pictures are not really helpful as they seem to be shot under another light, and have another resolution. (Not sure it is another bag...)

The good news are that you are paying a fair price, and if you are fine with adding a few hundreds $$$ for servicing the bag at hermes, you will end with a true gem !

The only thing you have to make sure of is that you trust your seller.

Ps : I leave this to your thoughts : We see many fake bags made of all kinds of grainy leathers, wannabe Togo, Courchevel, whatever, but I NEVER SAW a fake box leather Birkin that would look like actual Hermes box leather under the light of a flash. All the pictures you have provided for this bag show authentic box leather.

Thank you so much! I feel much better. I thought $5800 seemed reasonable for a 2002 35cm box Birkin. I expect some surface scratches and a little corner wear. I actually would like to use it as a workhorse and will eventually send it for spa. I have told the seller that I've posted the bag here for authentication and she has taken me several sets of photos (she is obviously not a great photographer). She has been very no-pressure and has a great selling record. I think I'll go ahead.

Good Evening Ladies,

I was just wondering if you'd be able to answer a quick question. I am contemplating buying a 35cm Birkin from a family friend. She brought it over today so I could see it in person. On the front plate there is a small square shaped symbol engraved after the Hermes-Paris. I was wondering if this is supposed to be there since most pictures I have seen of Birkins don't have it.

(I apologize if there was some other thread or way I could have asked this but I'm new to this forum and I tried searching and didn't have much luck).
Thanks in advance!

You should really post a picture. You can also go to the reference section and look at the bags posted there. You will see differences with the palladium and gold hardware stampings. That might answer your question.
