Fake?

COACH VINTAGE BROWN LEATHER SHOULDER BAG PURSE HANDBAG

eBay item number:251760072243

Seller brock8

http://www.ebay.com/itm/COACH-VINTA...243?pt=US_CSA_WH_Handbags&hash=item3a9e11d633

There's NOTHING right about that POS, from the elephant-skin leather all over to the zipper pull to the mismatched hardware to the -7414 style number from a FABRIC Mercer that wasn't even made until 1999.

And remember what we talked about yesterday when there was another bag with a questionable creed? And it was pointed out how the creed used different fonts and the letters in the words "united states" were all squished together? Here it is again. Except for the Coach logo at the top, the same creed stamp formatting was used for both fakes.

First, the current fake -7414, then the fake Rambler -9061 from yesterday:

Item: Coach F48319 PEYTON MINI MESSENGER SWINGPACK
Listing number: 271682329167
Seller: essential*corner
Link: http://www.ebay.com.my/itm/271682329167

Comments: Signature coated canvas, Color : Khaki Mahagony 8 3/4" (L) x 6 1/4" (H)

I was looking around getting a christmas present for my wife and I came across this Coach swingpack, and I bought it.

When it arrived through mail and seeing the real thing for the first time, I was a bit skeptical on the authenticity of the item. The inner zipper does have YKK mark on it.

I was hoping can help me check if it is the real coach bag. Thanks.

Welcome to tPF!

First of all, the zipper brand means absolutely NOTHING. Whatever useless and poisonous "guide" you read that in, ignore it and every other pearl of wisdom in it because most if not all of them will be BS. Then read my Siggie under all my posts, then the Salearea Guide on The YKK Zipper myth:
http://www.ebay.com/gds/Coach-and-the-YKK-Zipper-Myth-the-Basic-Facts-/10000000040073710/g.html

The one on Authenticity Guides and the mistakes and lies they contain also is an interesting read:
http://www.ebay.com/gds/Coach-Authenticity-Guides-Facts-and-Myths-/10000000062607882/g.html

What exactly were you worried about when you looked it over?

The Swingpack looks genuine. I hope your lady enjoys her gift. :santawave:

Thank you for for your guidance.

When it arrived, the first thing I tried looking for was the creed and serial number and there was none. Not knowing some coach bag do not have a creed, cos this is the first time I buy a coach bag and did not do enough research on it before buying, I started to feel like it was not genuine, and only then I started researching about fake and found many fake coach sold on eBay (where I bought it from). After long hours of research, my confidence it is genuine grows back. However, with my zero experience with coach bags, I really needed someone with experience to help to check it. I do not want to give my wife a bag that would eventually make her a laughing stock.

Thank you again for your time in helping me.

At first I couldn't view the photos either but then I clicked on the link to sign in, then closed it without signing in. Then I was able to enlarge the photos. It was a made in Korea creed.

I can't enlarge the photos on the first one so I can't read the creed but I have a bad feeling about it. It looks like a vista bag, but every vista I've seen has a completely lined flap rather than half suede like that one. The second bag looks fine but I think the strap might have been shortened. The end looks funny. I'm seeing a lot of those multi zip bags lately!

Thank you. Thanks for getting back to me so quickly.

The end is pointed on that bag and the end on the one I have at home is round. Guess I will contact the seller about it. Asked for a better creed pic on the Vista bag.

Thanks again.

There are a few other red flags on the first one, even without a clear creed photo. The Coach logo and cartouche above the creed is too big, and the strap isn't mounted correctly. When you're looking at the front of a Coach with an adjustable strap, the shorter part of the strap should be on the left. When you're carrying it on your right shoulder like most of us do, the buckle should be at the back. On that fake, it's just the opposite.

The strap on the second one has definitely been chop-shopped.
