Hi everyone. I recently purchased a white pre-loved mini LD from a trustworthy vendor. They offer lifetime guarantee on authenticity with full refund. The bag itself is pretty much identical to my other mini (black), even down to the weight. I can post it in the Authentication thread here later as well but I'm very confident the bag is authentic. The only difference I'm seeing is that the chain strap of the white one twists if I hold it up by the leather piece and let the chain hang freely. For the black one, the chain hangs almost straight. I've weighed both straps individually and they are very close as well (1% difference which is a perfectly reasonable manufacturing variation), and the individual links on the white look and feel just like the black one as far as shape, weight, colour, shine, etc. The white was made in 2015, the black in 2016.
I brought this up with the vendor and they said that if I have any concerns about authenticity, they can send it for additional authentication with Entrupy for a small fee or I can get it authenticated anywhere else at any point and they will honour their lifetime guarantee if it is found to be fake. They will accept the verdict from any reliable professional authenticator. Under normal circumstances I would go ahead with further authentication, but I do feel that it is very possible for some authentic chains to twist in this manner. The main reason I feel this way is earlier this year, I wanted to purchase a men's curb chain necklace from the store but it twisted even more severely than what I'm seeing with this strap. I asked my SA to order in another piece to look at and it had the same issue. So I wouldn't put it past Dior to manufacture chains that twist while hanging freely.
I know it's possible for a fake chain to end up with an authentic bag and there are a few possible scenarios I can think of that this could happen. At the same time, I know it's possible that my twisty chain is authentic. So I'm wondering if any of you have twisty chains on your mini LDs as well?
