Belt bag worth the price?

I want to purchase a black micro belt bag for my next everyday bag. I am confident this is the right bag for me but the price, especially with this years increase, is holding me back. Is it worth it? Other designer alternatives with gold hardware, top handle, crossbody, similar forgiving leather?

I have 4 kids and know I’m hard on my everyday workhorse bags. pre-loved is out of the question due to the number of fakes Ive been seeing in circulation right now…. Or I think I’m seeing, I’m not an authenticator.

Evening the Patina on Keepall Bandouliere 60

Hi! I recently had my Keepall Bandouliere 60 repaired, I had all the leather redone on the entire bag (minus the right side and shoulder strap due to having those done not long before doing the rest of my bag). When it comes to the patina on my bag, the right side and should strap are just a tiny bit darker than the rest. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to even the patina? I’ve had it sitting in the sun in my formal living room because I want all the leather to match. Is this the best way?

I’ll include photos, thanks for any and all input and I hope everyone’s having a great day!

Following his viral pandemic fame, Leslie appeared on CNN's New Year's Eve 2021 countdown, ringing in 2022 with Anderson Cooper and Andy Cohen.

On Sunday, Leslie posted a video on Instagram of himself singing a hymn.

Leslie was famous for his work on popular TV shows like "Will & Grace," "Hearts Afire," "The Cool Kids," "Call Me Kat" and "American Horror Story."

The last time we saw Leslie out in public was pretty recently ... our photogs got him just last month, gauging his reaction to Elton John and Britney Spears releasing a new song together.

Leslie was 67.

What pendant/necklace to wear with small frivole(non pave) earrings?

Hi ladies, I have small mirror polish frivole earrings in YG, and having trouble to find a great pairing pendant or necklace to go with it. Here are my existing collection of pendant/necklace.
VA onxy YG pendant
Perlee clover YG pendant
Perlee couleurs malachite YG pendant
Magic grey MOP RG pendant
2* 10 motif hammered YG necklace.
I normally wear frivole earrings with perlee clover pendant, but don’t feel they go well together, and 10 motif with the earring feel too dressy for my style. So curious if anyone have any pairing suggestions with my existing collection or something else with VCA. I’m also considering adding pave small frivole earrings in YG next year, and would also like to hear pairing idea of that. Thank you all in advance!

Opinion: Pink or Yellow VCA gold on very fair skin with blue undertones?

Hello,
I collect VCA in WG and in PG and I also have a fair amount of yellow gold vintage pieces as well. I'd like to consolidate down to either yellow or pink gold.
What are your recommendations for someone who is very fair, has blue undertones in skin, and red (Auburn and copper) hair color?

Sample sale and charging interested people small fee for VIP entrance.

Hey guys,

I attended a sample-sale last year and was put on the VIP list; I get a one-day early access to the goodies. This means that I would have first dibs and wouldn't have to wait in line for hours.

I'm planning on attending again with a friend, but I'd also like to put a word out there (likely on Facebook) that I'd be willing to have some other people tag along for the earlier entrance for a small fee (likely $25). Would this be a bad idea?

I feel like this would lessen the guilt on spending so money on that sample sale but it's once a year and the deals are really good, and since I'm planning on attending anyway, why not have my shopping subsidized?

FYI: The last time I attended, I was relatively early and the lineup after we got out was hours and hours long. Most of the goods were 80% sold out in the first day according to those in charge.

Please share your Sweets, Smalls, and Minis!

Hi all! I'm hoping to have a thread where we can share discussions and photos of the daintier items from VCA.

I think the vintage and Magic sizes are great, and the larger pieces are bold and eye-catching, but it would be so nice to be able to see the variety of how the smaller earrings, rings, pendants, necklaces, and bracelets are being styled, too, without having to wade through so many different threads. The delicacy and femininity of the sweets, smalls, and minis are just so special and easy to wear for everyday or elegant situations.

Please share your still, action, or modeling shots of your sweet, small, and mini VCA jewelry.

Here's a couple shots of my rg sweet pendant to get us started.

Lady dior chain pouch- chain breaks?

Hi All! I love the lady dior chain pouch (the newer version with the dior charms in the front and center of the pouch) but heard that there were issues with the jewel chain breaking.

I was wondering if anyone who owns this pouch has had issues with the chain. It did feel very fragile when I tried it on and I was concerned whether or not it would hold the weight of the pouch once you fill it with your things.

One pro about living in NYC, you’ll for sure find a Chanel classic flap

My SA text me this morning that he only has two small classic flaps available for purchase at Saks NYC. I immediately tell him I’ll be there in a few hours. I tried on a few different sizes but stuck with the size small. I would’ve snagged medium but maybe in the future (I’m sure there will be another price increase). So I bought the small and it’s perfect. I really love it and I’m glad I got it now since the holidays are coming up and it would be much harder to get.39D4071B-A704-4455-BCB3-FE1D3A1BC650.jpeg
When I say I will get something, I absolutely get it!

Purple or Taupe/Grey for large, classic bag?

I’m curious what your what your thoughts are on purple. A small splash of purple is a fabulous thing. (I’m thinking something like a BV pillow in purple) Maybe a huge, trendy splash of purple is also a fabulous thing.

But if you were going to buy one medium to large, very high and very classic bag, like a Fendi peekaboo, or an Hermès, Birkin or Kelly, or something like that, if this was going to be your only bag in that high end brand, would crazy to go with purple?

Sometimes I see very nice bags and they are apple green or turquoise or purple and I think if I had the money to buy five Birkins, Of course I would have one, but I knew I would only buy one – – how crazy would it be to go with such a crazy color?

Obviously going neutral would be safer, but would going colorful be foolish?

I don’t exactly have anything on the horizon. I am just musing and curious about everyone’s thoughts.

Also, growing tired of a conference I’ve been at for days and am eyeing everybody’s eye candy.

Help with color transfer on mini Lindy

Please let me know if you have any recommendations on how to clean my new mini Lindy in bleu brume :( used it for the first time last night and wore a black dress. Just noticed this at the end of the night. Hermes store said they can send out for spa $300 but no guarantee color transfer can be fixed. So sad

“Dream” Come True: Going Bespoke with Atelier Peter Nitz — Instead of Hermes Quota Bag

Last Spring, I inquired with my Hermes home store (Washington, DC) about a 25cm Retourné Kelly to commemorate a major life accomplishment. Since I am no longer the big spender that I used to be, that bag was never offered. Nor will it be. And that’s OK. :)
So, what’s a girl to do?
  1. Pay crazy reseller prices to complete my bag collection; or
  2. Go bespoke.
I chose Option 2.

I have long admired Peter Nitz’s work. He is a self-taught leather worker who clearly loves and is passionate about his work. In his words, “I met an Hermes craftsman in Paris and she showed me how to saddle stitch and edge finish and I got addicted :-)”.

He since founded his own atelier in Zurich. His designs share a simple, refined, and elegant aesthetic. I’m particularly enamored with his “Dream” bag design. It’s a tote like a Birkin, yet it has a cross-body shoulder strap like a Kelly. It’s easy to use, functional, and holds way more than you think.

I reached out to Peter in late August. The hardest part of the bespoke process was deciding what to commission. With a universe of choices, it’s hard to hone in on what will work best. At first, I had about a half dozen ideas. I knew I wanted to do a matte croc/normal leather combo. Peter sent me some non-exotic leather swatches to review. I fell in love with a Lilac Gray Bull Calf (Clemence) swatch. It is an amazing neutral that has an effervescent quality in the way the color reflects the light. My initial thought was to use a tan/brown for the croc. But then I had an epiphany— Himalaya!!! Since I have a better chance of winning the PowerBall lottery (even though I don’t play) than being offered a Himalayan croc at Hermes, everything clicked into place.

The next morning I reached out to see if Himalaya would work. Peter had the perfect skin to match the Lilac Gray bull calf. He had put this skin aside for himself because he loved the rare lilac-y gray color.

I paid a deposit to begin construction of the bag. Peter sent me pictures of the cutting and stitching progress of the bag as it was being made. I followed his Instagram account (@atelierpeternitz) too for more pictures and videos. Even my DH, who normally does not care about this kind of thing thought that the process was very cool and interesting and the bag would ultimately be a star in my collection.

After Peter conducted a professional photo shoot, the bag (and CITES) was on its way to me. It was in U.S. Customs for a few days; and U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service examined and released the bag back to FedEx for its delivery to my home. I do kind of wonder what they thought when they examined it. But it was carefully repackaged and boxed. I received the bag in the first week in October. It makes me smile every time I look at it.

The cost for the 25cm Dream bag with the croc was not far different than purchasing a normal leather B35 at Hermes.

My Dream Bag incorporates all the reasons why I was drawn to Hermes bags in the first place — and none of the drawbacks:
  • Same leather quality as Hermes
  • Hermes master craftsperson level stitching and construction
  • Usable and functional design
  • Option for repair and/or spa the bag
Peter was a consummate professional to work with from start to finish. The process was seamless, even though he’s in Switzerland and I’m in the U.S.

This will not be my only 25 Dream Bag. It’s a great everyday size that is cross-body, light and easy to wear.

I like that the bag is niche, under the radar, and not worn ad nauseum by “Look at ME!!!! influencers.”

The Himalaya and lilac bull calf is such an elegant combination. It goes with so much of my wardrobe and jewelry collection, especially, my 35th anniversary present, a VCA Magic Alhambra 16 motif.

I wholeheartedly recommend reaching out to Peter if you are frustrated with the Hermes bag chase. The Dream bag is aptly named.

Here are some pics of the finished bag. Some shots are outtakes from a professional photo shoot that Peter held. My next post will show bag in progress development.
