I bought this bag yesterday but I’m a little bothered by the chain and how it’s attached with two holes on one side and one hole on the other side. I also find it slides off my shoulder over my coats when I try to wear it that way. Does anyone else have this issue or is it me?

I’m tossing up between a Coussin and a capucines. I love both but am concerned about value retention as even though I’m not planning on selling, I just don’t like the idea that they can lose value quickly. From a quick look, it doesn’t appear that the second hand market is flooded with coussins and value retention seems ok, but depreciation on capucines is terrible. What are people’s thoughts?

Is chanel beige clair in gold hardware hard to find in boutique?

Dear fellow jewelry LOVErs, I have a very strange question for you.

This is something I didn’t notice in a few days with my ring (hard to see unless looking really closely), but the diamonds seem to be set with a bit of an “oval” look. Meaning the below and upper borders are just slightly thicker than the left and right ones.

Have you noticed anything like that in your rings or bracelets? It’s late to return for me, but just trying to understand if that’s a common thing.

Any thoughts? So i was looking at the Graceful then the neo noe with the black caught my eye. I do not have a store close enough to pop into. I ususally order and hate the stress of returning. As we know, there is a surplus of information about the making of a kelly (videos/articles). At the various metier shows that H puts on the bag the artisan always seems to be making is a kelly. We know that the kelly bag is essentially the "graduation exercise" that H artisans must produce to gain entrance into the full-ranked cadre of leatherworkers once the training period is over. We know the handle of a kelly is particularly hard to make, taking 3-4 hrs alone, many attempts at first, and we know that retourne kellys must be turned inside out as the final step of construction.

For some reason, I cannot find nearly the same amount of information about the making of a birkin. @880 was kind enough to produce an article (https://madisonavenuecouture.com/blogs/news/how-hermes-birkin-bags-are-made) and that was enjoyable to read. Yet, I cannot find any videos of birkins being made and the information seems to be more scant generally.

Do any of you have links/info that show how a birkin is made? Articles, videos, or interviews? Any reliable info generally? Given the popularity of this bag, I can't help but think many of us would like to know more.

TPF'ers please help me make a decision

Went in to get the black mini-reissue but ended up coming home with the 23 P Beige. As much as I like this color I am torn because black is my safe color and I rarely branch out into other colors.

They didn't have a black mini re-issue but I was able to look at the next size up and found the leather to be really dull and flat...so that didn't really appeal to me.

Should I keep this? (all my other Chanel bags are black)

I'm thinking of purchasing a pre-loved Chanel Reissue 2.55 Nude, and came across this local listing that seemed too good to be true (y'know what they say).

Anyway, it's priced at a modest $300CAD and I can pick it up locally (so therefore I can inspect it).

Can someone tell me if it's authentic? Also, if you cannot confirm, what should I look out for if I am to inspect it in person to determine authenticity (if you don't want to publicly answer, please send me a DM). Your help will be much appreciated!

I see a nice looking MAB without the handles. It only has a shoulder strap. It’s cheap and looks good. It has 3 slip pockets on the inside so I thought it was a MAB. Was there another bag in that style that had no handles? Looks good for traveling to me… I might snag it… maybe it’s 17.5x10x5

I recently purchased a max mara manuela coat online to replace my old one because I have changed sizes. However, when it arrived I saw the inside lining and thought the colour was off. Is this a fake? All the other details match up (stitching, labels, buttons, etc). It does seem that the coat is a bit more worn, could this be an older model?

Left is my authentic manuela (lighter lining) and right is the new one with a darker lining! Both are in the colour camel. Would really appreciate any insight!

Oh my goodness y’all. So recently a friend of mine’s mum passed away after a long illness. In going through her things he came across a bag he remembered from 30 years ago….a black vintage Chanel flap.

After some thoughtfulness it was decided the bag should find a new home with me, as I would give it many many adventures.

We did authenticate it before he shipped it to me, just to make sure the rigamarole was worth it. But, she’s real, she was never carried and she’s now in my possession!

It’s a black lamb skin, the leather is buttery soft and I had ordered some cleaner and conditioner in anticipation of her arrival. She’s a series “1”, and has the sticker inside along with the authentication card from Chanel.

I am just over the moon. We went to Paris for the first time last fall and I had always said “I’m buying a Chanel bag when I finally go to Paris”, but I just couldn’t pull the trigger as nothing seemed “right”.

This bag is “right”. I can’t get over how amazing the condition is. That it came from one of my dearest friends makes it even more special.

The age old adage “good things come to those who wait” is so true!!

Or just find a friend who inherits a Chanel bag and sends it to you.

I’m turning 40 this month, so I thought I would treat myself with a bag. I been wanting the toy loulou for a couples of month now and did a lot of research. So today I bought one in NK here in Stockholm. I guess you could say that NK is kind of like Bloomingdales or Selfridges or something like that. It was the first time I saw it in real life today and I absolutely felt in love with it. When I got home and unboxed it, I was a little underwhelmed. I did get a ysl box and dust bag so that’s fine, but I didn’t get any care booklet or tags, but that don’t bother me that much. What bother me most is that I really think I got a display model. There was no protective paper on the bag or tissue paper inside. And the date code shows that the bag is from April 2022.
The bags looks fine though. My question is, would it bother you enough to return it and buy it from ysl online instead? I have good experience with ysl online. Advice please

Hi all! I have been in the process of streamlining/downsizing my collection. I get overwhelmed and I cannot enjoy my bags when they just sit. I struggle to sell special bags that I don’t use but I can’t just keep letting these bags sit unused. My collection got a bit out of control and I do not have enough days in the week or events to wear all of my bags. I’ve gone from 30 to 20 to 15ish and now I’m streamlining further to hopefully 10. I sold a few Chanel’s and added a birkin and now I intend to sell another Chanel and add a Kelly (in a burgundy or deep red) for variety. This isn’t a Chanel Vs Hermes thread. I intent to always keep a few Chanel’s in my collection as I think a chanel flap always has a place in my collection. I find that I don’t reach for my flaps but want 1 or 2 for special occasions. I am a top handle girl.

Out of these 3 which would you sell?
1) Navy chevron 227 GHW, 2) Navy extra mini coco handle rainbow, 3) Black lamb GHW buck bag?

Just for reference. I do use the bucket bag the most out of the 3 but I have a few other black bags with GHW too that I would like to reach for. And I wear a lot of jeans so navy is useful.

Going to share a few bags from my collection to help with your decision. I have a black Fendi extra mini peekaboo, burgundy/black GHW flap, baby blue reissue belt bag. I am also planning to sell my orange mini reissue as my new birkin is a coral color.

I own a black mini flamenco and absolutely love it, I’ve been wanting to add one in a different colour. I’m debating between two preloved flamencos, one in rosemary and the other in atlantic blue and I’m really struggling to decide.
I typically wear a lot of white, khaki green, coral, grey, navy blue, black.
Does anyone own them in these colours and can provide feedback, or can suggest which colour would be more versatile overall?? Thanks in advance!!

I have noticed a lot of chanel bags recently (particularly from images in the resale market) looking lopsided, meaning that the flap is not completely straight across but that one side is slightly higher. Is this something that happens with normal wear and is there any way to prevent it from happening? Does anyone have any experience with this issue within their personal Chanel collection / able to provide pictures of this issue? I would love to hear some insight on this - thank you!

how have you treated your chanel bags since the ridic price increases?

I’ve found out that since my handbags are now worth so much (compared to when I got them-some just a few short years back and some over 10 years ago) that I can’t seem to enjoy them anymore. I realized that I’m even more careful when I wear them out.. like they should be in glass cases where they’re protected.

I also feel silly walking around town meeting friends, doing errands with an ultra expensive handbag.

Wondering if others have felt the same way.

I’m thinking about getting white turnlock loafers, but worried about the wear & tear. If you own them, did the bottom sides of the loafer get stained or discolored? Thanks for any help!

I’m thinking about getting another uptown clutch (have the black pebbled leather with ghw already) and can’t decide between the off white with ghw or dark beige with ghw. Which would you get?

I have a few questions for anyone who owns or is familiar with the iconic fairy bag from 2008.

1. How would you describe the original background color..... white or more of an off white/ beige? I just purchased a used one in good condition but i was a little surprised the color was much more beige than i was expecting as it looked brighter in photos and I'm wondering if it darkened over time from dirt, sunlight, elements, whatever.

2. I heard these bags were reissued after first edition was found to have ink bleed, especially if got wet. Is there a way to determine if a bag is from the original issue or second?

3. Has anyone successfully cleaned exterior of this bag without causing any damage? Thank you for any help!
