YSL Hardware Issue Concerns

Had some issues with tarnish GHW issues in the last couple of YSL bags I recently purchase, and wanted to see if others are experiencing the same or if I’m just being too picky. Because I compared it to my other ysl bags GHW and they new bags GHW looks like it’s used.

First bag with the issue I noticed was the small puffer chain bag I purchased from FWRD and both the chain and the logo GHW was so tarnish and scratched and I had to exchanged it two more times for the same issues and finally just return it for a full refund.

Most recent bag I just received, the Gaby zipped pouch in quilted lambskin, bought directly from the YSL website hoping it won’t have this issue for a different type of bag, but yet again it has that same tarnish scratched on the GHW. Planning to return it, and I was glad I purchase it from the website versus in store because I can return it for a full refund. I’m disappointed in the quality of the GHW, the leather is so pretty on this bag. It’s unfortunate.

Is anyone else experiencing this with their new bags and/or is this just a new thing with their GHW style and that’s supposed to be the look? I’m comparing my older YSL bags and SLGs GHW and they are still shiny and beautiful, and maybe YSL is using a different kind of GHW now? Or maybe I’m just picky.

Anyone else feeling overwhelmed with the new releases?

I've only been collecting for a year and a half so maybe this is normal for LV, but I've been overwhelmed by all of the new releases starting with the 2nd wave Kusama. I can't keep up with the styles, the colors, the prices or the release dates.

Is it typical for LV to release so many new bags?

Your thoughts on the Gucci Ostrich Leather Webb Jackie Hobo

Hi everyone! Does anyone own a Gucci Ostrich bag, and if so, any cons? How do you care for it? I just purchased mine from a reseller boutique and I'm pretty excited to receive it. Does anyone own this particular Gucci Ostrich Jackie bag and if so, are you happy with it? Do the Ostrich nubs come off easily? Many thanks to those that respond! :)

Anyone have luck resizing Loewe belt before?

I recently got a really good price on a Loewe skinny anagram leather reversible belt (the type with the pin hole closure)….BUT it’s sooo many sizes too big.

Loewe says they don’t do any belt shortening to size as company policy when I called their store and was wondering if anyone has had experience taking their belt to a leather shop before for cutting to size and/or adding more holes? A little nervous if it will ruin the belt and I should just return it for a refund instead

Thanks!

YSL Envelope repair

VENT: Well, I am super bummed!
Handbag was purchased in late September 2022, by my sis who gave it to me in October. I thought I would use it more since I hedged my bets on the dark beige color instead of the more tan/caramel color handbag, thinking I'd use it more year round. Anyway, first week of April I spotted this! after only a few wears (maybe a dozen??) Does anyone have experience with getting a repair done with YSL? Since it was past 30 days, no return. It's currently waiting to be reviewed for repair and estimate cost. Then I was told it'd be 6-7 months wait (even though the receipt says repairs are 3 months max). right in the prime time of when I would be using it (spring/summer). YSL will literally have the bag longer in repair than what I've owned it for :(
does anyone have experience with actual wait time? cost? what if they can't repair???!!!

Best bag for a mom

Hello! New to buying Prada so looking for some options. I recently got the saffiano leather re edition and love it so it’s made me start looking at other options.

I want an every day bag that’s comfortable and easy to use. I have an 18 month old and an 8 yr old that’s in school but otherwise we’re on the soccer field or doing family things in the weekend. I don’t need a full on diaper bag as I leave stuff in the car. I’m looking was this hobo bag but wanted to see if there are others you live and possibly in a similar situation

Lost my vca Alhambra necklace

I traveled to Indonesia last month and lost all the jewelries I brought with me including the Alhambra necklace in a pouch. I kept the pouch inside my cosmetic bag. We were traveling from Java to Bali and I made a mistake checking in my bag at the airport. The next day I realized that they were stolen. It was devastating !!!! I almost got a panic attack when I found out everything was gone! Luckily vca was the only expensive jewelry I put into the pouch. I brought my cartier love necklace and sweet Alhambra bracelet with me as well but I wore it to the flight that day.

I contacted both hotels and the airline. After several weeks investigation they had no result and I had to accept it. I just came back home and DH bought a new one for me. Sometimes I still can’t help thinking where my necklace was.

To keep or not to keep…

I acquired a few LV bags at the same time and realized I went a bit crazy and I think I need to sell my neverfull. I do love how functional the bag is and I don’t find other totes comparable. With that said, I bought it as a work and diaper bag. I have a longchamp tote I can use for this. Of course the neverfull is prettier haha. The other thing I noticed as a mom bag is that I can’t leave it in the stroller unattended at the park and I don’t want to shove it in the stroller at stores. I’m not going to walk around wearing the heavy tote either so it realllly only works for visiting people at their house which is not that often since I have 3 small kids and maybe doctor appointments. Do you think it makes sense to sell it? Basically in doing so it allows me to keep the 2 beautiful Alma’s I have in Epi and DE. I was originally going to sell the Alma bb and it’s just too damn pretty and I can’t do it whereas totes don’t excite me as much.

Is it unsafe to carry your Birkin in Downtown San Francisco?

I live in the suburbs of the Bay Area and haven’t been in the City since it was shut down in 2020 during the height of Covid. I have since stayed away due to numerous incidents of robbery and Asian hate, and frankly I am terrified. I usually just shop online now, and for high end stuff, I fly out to Vegas.

I made an appointment next week to come in to VCA because my guilloche pendant is about to turn 1 year old and need to get it extended. If I wait until my next Vegas trip, it will be passed the 1 year mark and I’d have to pay.

My dilemma now is, should I proceed in using my designer bags, clothes, shoes, and jewelry? Or will this make me a target and best to just dress down? I am a SAHM and hardly go out nowadays, so when I get the chance, I like dressing up. Although, I’m so scared to walk the streets of SF attracting attention to myself. Is this just my anxiety? What would you do?

Share your details about your favorite style jeans!!

Hi everyone...this is a thread for everyone who wants to share more details about their favorite style jeans! Please post pics!! I'll start...my favorite style at the moment are a wider leg with some visual interest, such as strategic placement of seems to create a look, so it's not just a basic jean. An example of this are the Sid jean by Tibi, the Lasso jean by B-sides (I have these), and these Zara jeans (I have these as well) that remind me of the Sid jeans but a lot more affordable. Here they all are:

What is this flaw on my vintage Lydie :( and how can I fix it?

Hi all,
I bought a vintage Lydie and I didn’t notice until it’s under certain light that there are these faded patches on the front. (I knew about the scratches). I’ve tried to massage leather conditioner in and they would disappear and the purse would look wonderful, but several days later the spots would pop back up :(

What could this be?

First-time Hermes customer interested in a Picotin. What can I expect?

Hi everyone, I'm a first-time Hermes customer (i.e. no purchase history at all) and I'm interested in buying a Picotin 18 or 22. I am going to be in three different US cities over the next month, so I'm hoping to visit Hermes boutiques in each location. I am also going to be in Europe in the fall (Rome, Monaco, St. Tropez, and Nice for cities that I believe have Hermes boutiques).
My question is this: can anyone tell me what to expect for the process in buying a Picotin? I hear some say that they get bags their first time in; others have said that they had to spend the amount of the bag on other items to be offered one. I don't know if I'd want to to do that, so I feel my options are:
1) Try my luck at these three US boutiques, but is this a pointless effort if I'm not going to spend a lot?
2) Wait until I'm in Europe in the fall and try my luck there (is it easier?)
3) Buy preloved
4) Play website roulette and cross my fingers
I really appreciate any insights, tips, thoughts, or recommendations that people are willing to share!

Help On My Third Rolex

I need your inputs please ladies and gents. I’m planning on buying this 31mm DJ. It has the oyster bracelet. I’ve always admired the oyster bracelet on a fluted bezel and TT RG because I feel it balances the striking look of the fluted bezel and makes it less dressy/more casual. But I’m afraid I might regret it since the jubilee bracelet is really head-turning with it. Here’s a picture of the one I’m planning to get.

Other watches that I own is a 26mm TT DJ and 31mm OP yellow (pictured below).

DE canvas difference - new vs vintage

I bought a Speedy B 25 in Damier Ebene yesterday. I already have a regular Speedy 30 which I bought in 2008, so I guess that’s borderline vintage now!

I was really surprised to notice how different the canvas looks nowadays when I got to compare the two bags at home. Has anyone noticed the same? The canvas on the new Speedy looks much more yellow/orange hued, while the old canvas is dark brown. The leather parts are also surprisingly matte compared to the old one, but I guess that’s mainly due to patina and oils from hands etc. Adding a few photos to show the difference (new bag on the left, old one on the right).

I’m not saying that I don’t like the new bag. Just surprised how much it has changed, and I had somehow thought they wouldn’t change the canvas. Or maybe my old Speedy is just dirty and has aged

I contemplated on getting the new Speedy for a long time. I was afraid it’s gone out of style and buying the same bag in a different size (and with a strap) seemed pointless. However, I needed a crossbody bag that is lightweight, carefree and can fit all my and my kid’s things without being huge or heavy. For that purpose the Speedy B 25 is spot on and I realised how much I like the classic look.

Restore antique engagement ring or . . . ?

Hello, everyone. I would love to hear your thoughts about the situation with my engagement ring (mine for 29 years). It belonged to my husband's grandmother. I recently took it to the jeweler because I cracked one of the baguettes, and I learned that the platinum prongs are so worn that they should be replaced. It's a one-piece ring, so replacing the prongs means replacing the whole ring, which will make it a new ring. The center stone is an OEC 1.5 carat, L with a large, visible culet and fun fire in certain lighting. It is a character and I would recognize it anywhere. Nevertheless, although I'm attached to the ring, I probably would not have chosen the stone, and I'm not sure I would like it in a new ring. The ring should not be worn in its current condition. What would you do in my situation?
