Hi all,
I am creating this new thread to discuss rules/policies related to exchanging quota bags (QBs) and non-quota bags (non-QBs) in the US boutiques that were originally purchased outside the US boutiques.
Let me start with my recent case: I was in Asia in the past 2 weeks. There, I did not spend any in the stores, and was still offered decent bags (i.e., Birkin 50 gold/phw and C18 dancing flowers multiple times [red and black]) as a walk-in client. While I did not purchase any of these, I now have a second thought of "what if I bought them and exchange them in the US for the bag specs I want...?"
What are the rules/policies for exchanging QBs and non-QBs in the US stores when one bought these outside the US?
Correct me if I am wrong, but here are some rules/policies in the US stores:
- Bag exchanges are for bags only. One cannot exchange bags for other items that are not leather bags.
- One must be cautious that small leather goods and luggage bags are not considered "bags."
- Bag exchanges must occur on the same day, and no store credit will be allowed. (I am not sure if it is true...?)
- If the QB is exchanged for another QB in the US store, then 1 of "2 QBs a year" is gone automatically in the US.
If I purchase the B50 in Asia, can I exchange it to B35 (or B25) AND C24 (after adjusting for prices) in the US store, without much hassle, in theory? What are the potential caveats? Thank you in advance!
