What do you do when one nail is much shorter?

How do you deal with your nails if one breaks or splits off very short (such as to the quick)? Do you keep all your other nails the length they are and let the broken one slowly catch up? Or do you file your nails down a little (or a lot) so the catching up part takes a shorter amount of time and the difference in length isn’t so great?

Depends on how big the difference in length is.
I grow my nails relatively long so when a nail breaks, it often becomes a lot shorter.
I’ll trim my other nails by around 1/3 or 1/2 so it doesn’t look too obvious.
But I won’t cut all my nails short.

I either file them all to match the same size as the shortest one, or if I have time I go to the nail salon and get gel extension on the nail that broke, of course only if the difference in length is noticeable

I usually don’t do anything for a couple of days 🫣 but when I get to it, I file them all down. For me, a broken nail is like a “time to restart and refresh” reminder.
