I can see how those shoes might look busy depending on how they're styled, but I think they'd be lovely with, e.g. navy or dark brown pants.

IMO if someone criticizes your shoes by calling them "tacky", it's an insult rooted in classism anyways—if you like a pair of shoes, you can figure out how to make them work with some thought.
