Balmain Double breasted blazer help

Since it's tweed, I'd be less worried about shortening the sleeve since the texture is more forgiving than wool. Check with your trusted tailor.

Also, how do you like the tweed style? I dont own any yet, but have tried a dress in tweed. I feel like it's got more stretch than the classic wool blazer.

Yes, I have an alterations specialist who is amazing. I will check with her.

I personally prefer tweed to wool. I love how classic it looks in the collarless style. Plus, I find wool incredibly itchy and tweed more comfortable to wear

Curious if someone can educate me on the differences between grain de poudre, wool twill, virgin wool? I’ve seen all these terms used on line to refer to the wool blazer. how are these wool blazers different in terms of softness and feel? Or are vendors using their own terms to describe the same thing?

Also, are their multiple shades or red or just one? I’ve seen a deeper shade in a YouTube video (posted earlier in this thread) and currently I see more of a lipstick red shade available for the season. I wasn’t sure if the difference was lighting versus different red tones over the years.

thanks!

I’m also wondering about the reds...I prefer the deep red myself.

Are there different reds in the Balmain blazers...I prefer a deeper red that I saw on a YouTube video...and the reds I’m seeing look brighter unless it’s just the lighting?

Hey guys would love some help here as I’m buying my first ever Balmain blazer..I found a great leather one on Vestiaire but noticed it doesn’t have the lion buttons, and the sleeves don’t seem to have actual button holes for the five buttons. Can anyone enlighten me on the different buttons and what year the style might be if it isn’t the lion buttons? Just curious to know.

Edit* should flag the buttons are still gold but seem to have a bit of a snake sort of pattern rather than the classic lion head.

Balmain does vary their buttons. Some are the lion's head, usually on their classic wool blazers, others are emblems/crests. A blazer in leather may not be ideal with button holes, so it's probably as designed.

Can anyone please tell me if there is any allowance in the seams of the jackets to be let out? For instance, the arms and/or armpits or the waist? Like the option that Chanel offers in many of their jackets. Thanks

It's hard to tell bc the jackets are lined, but you should be able to bring to your trusted tailor and have them take a look.

Thanks for your reply. I would be buying the jacket online and am often in between sizes so I was just curious to find out if any one had this experience of altering jackets.

I recall someone may have posted a similar alteration, but it might have been to take in the shoulder area. In any case, a more complicated job like what you're asking about. As long as your tailor is very skilled, and has a proven track record, as in the case of your chanel items, I'd at least ask them for advice.

Balmain jacket sizing do differ slightly depending on material. Are you getting the wool, cotton or something else?

I have been looking into the wool and the cotton one. Also, I don't have experience with Chanel, I was simply pointing out that I am aware that Chanel has these allowances in their clothing so I was curious about Balmain. Realistically, I'm in loungewear everyday so what business do I have looking at sexy blazers!!!! Thanks again for your replies...
