LV paper bags now MADE IN CHINA

If LV and others, stopped making paper products and pulled out of these developing countries. many desperately poor people would lose their jobs and pittance they earn to feed their families.

As long as the purses continue to be made in France, Spain, US, I am okay with the fraction cost that goes to China or India.

don't kid yourself, they make the LV canvas IN CHINA, lots of these companies do. Please read DELUXE by Dana Thomas for your own good!!! it's very intriguing and eye opening. TONS OF "luxury" companies outsource parts of their bags to cheaper manufacturing companies, not necessarily china but anywhere other than europe. they put the cheap stuff together there (like the mono canvas) hide the fact that it's "made there so they don't shock their consumers" and put the nice little leather trimmings and handles on in france or wherever they have more "legitimate" factories. PLEASE people. read that book.

it's like the luxury business best kept secret apparently. where do you think Prada or Mulberry makes their stuff? or BURBERRY??!? you think they MASS produce all in europe? yeah right. these are all stock holding companies that stock holders need to see profit increases and what better way to make the 10 dollar handbag somewhere cheaper and sell it somewhere else with the 1000 or more price tag on it. That author btw has been banned from LV shows and functions for publishing their nasty little secrets. You need to see it for what it is. don't be fooled into thinking these luxury companies are keeping to their roots. apparently only Hermes and Chanel products are the only ones that don't outsource to cheaper places and make you think you're paying for true luxury. some factories in China even have the 1000 dollar designer bag being made NEXT TO the 50 dollar dept store brand!!! read it people! then you can make a better judgment call on how to spend your hard earned money before you go broke in the name of the labels!

Sorry but my colleagues have been to the factories in Europe and seen the canvas being made in person. It's not some cheap process made in China, it's a four step process which takes time and isn't as cheap as you think. The book you are referring to is far from factual and should not be trusted. But people will believe what they want.

I was in manufacturing business for years and it is true that LV outsourced some of their hardware pieces to China, but to very reputable manufacturers, though.

As long as the bags are not Made in China, I am fine with it, paper shopping bags are meant for recycled anyway, I don't keep them.
