...And Anfang and chincac, thank you for the love coming this way. Your posts on the art of Hermes are all most instructive. My apologies I have not learned the art of quoting. Yes, I looove Thalassa. She is the first real shawl - that I have kept and worn and loved. I am just getting used to the 'new me' who wears colour! and now knows why I have been inextricably drawn to orange.
I'm happy to hear you're drown in orange, kittyvoo! My posts are not that good, I'm afraid, I'm a sort of newbie here, too, you know... Never mind about multiquoting, I learned that here! Just click in the round under the message, and wheb clicking on the round of the last message you want to quote, click on "quote" and not "quote & reply". And then it will go! I'm not the best teacher, but hope this makes sense! ;)

Hello ladies! This arrived before I went on vacation, I didn't have time to post until I got back. Not really a Fall shawl but she might be ok for summer nights that cool off...

Fleurs et Plumes, I think from 2006. I'm not sure of the cw, it's a kind of robin egg/aqua/light turquoise color, a bit brighter than the pics show.
It's not my usual style but my late Mother was a horticulturalist and loved many of the flower species on this shawl, it reminds me of her so much, it's something she would've worn.
Congrats, Brit, this is a real collectors piece!
I love that it has a sentimental value for you as well, what a lovely way to remember your mother, I'm sure she is smiling!:hugs:

Pics for the record - not my shawl - it's DD's upcoming birthday present. I also posted it ont he Fall 2013 Scarf thread for the record.

She tried it in Europe a month ago and loved the 'perfect rich colors for Fall'. If there are already pics of it here, my apologies.

Carre Cube cashmere GM #08: bordeaux/petrole/fuchsia with black and dark griolet/ grey amethyst.

Not so great on me though the pink is surprisingly flattering. Nor would I wear it with white but that's what I had on. Her skin tone is paler and cooler, and her hair a little darker so I can see why she loved it. She'll probably wear it with black, dark colors and jeans. Luckily she doesn't read tpf.
Thanks for sharing this, Pierina, what a lovely gift for your daughter!
I'm becoming more and more intrigued with Carre Cube and the colors in this are rich and autumnal.

Thank you so much, Monceau, you are such a kind soul :hugs:
It reminds me of the botanical china pattern she used to adore and collect, covered in European flowers....I'm not familiar with this shawl but it made my heart sing the moment I saw it...

What a beauty, pierina, your DD will be over the moon. She's right, it's so rich, perfect for Fall!

But really charming!

And a remind of your mother. I totally understand this. I have some bags/scarves/jewels which are not me, but strong reminds of my passed away father, mother, sister, grandmothers. All and each have a very special place in my heart and mind, and guess what? I wear them a lot, with a very special pleasure . I'm pretty sure this one will perfectly work for you! 😉

Ah, I know how you feel, Anfang, that's wonderful!

Thank you for your reply! Actually today is my birthday - which is why I am finally taking the time to get away from my work and catch up on my hobby!

I am really giving this a lot of thought because it will be a big purchase. I am vascillating between a neutral that I can grab every day as I rush out of the house to go to work, wear with jeans, etc., or a stunningly bright burst of color that will make me super happy and brighten up my neutral wardrobe. I am blonde and feel I look best in aubergine, pink, black and brown. I know I look awful in yellow and orange, and I never enjoy wearing blues except teal, or greens except lime. I usually have more fun wearing modern patterns than more traditional ones. For example, I love my 90 Galop Chromatique. I love my 90 Tohu Bohu. Everyone I work with is in their 20's so I am influenced by their fun young style. I prefer to lean towards that rather than preppy. The GMs are so big, and I don't really want to have a huge object, like a leaf or horse-eye, on me. Prefer no images of animals or sports equipment, no logos, no consumer goods. Any suggestions?

Funny, when I started collecting H scarves, my rule was "no dogs, no horses, no Indians". Then I discovered Kermit Oliver...so much for rules!! I am not a neutral person so it is hard for me to say which way you should go - I always go for the blast of color, but I mostly wear black, so color is always nice. Of course, what initially comes to mind is a Tohu Bohu GM - there have been two issues that I know of, one within the last 2-4 years. That said, the colors I like best are the ones from the first issue and those are extremely hard to find.

What about the Carre Cube that Pierina just posted? I like the pattern on that one and it doesn't have anything too huge on it! If you check out the F/W 2013 thread you should be able to see some interesting designs and colorways so you can see if anything really catches your eye.

Good luck - though I must admit that the GMs are addictive!! (But totally worth it!)

And Happy Belated Birthday!!

Beautiful, Brit - I love the cw, too! When this first came out I thought it would be too ladylike for me, but when I saw it IRL, I really liked it. It will look lovely on you and will be so nice to have something that makes you think of your mother!!

...it's not a "full" shawl, the design is pretty sparse compared to many but the little flowers, eggs and feathers have lovely detail to them

I love the Cooke patterns - because of all the detail and the shadowing that he does, his scarves often have the most screens used during the printing process. All that really shows up nicely in this cw and in the GM format.
